Your next career opportunity
As Communications Officer in the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology at the University of Melbourne, you'll play a vital role in shaping the Faculty's narrative and enhancing its global reputation. Working within the Strategic Communications Team, you'll develop and implement a range of communications activities that support the Faculty's priorities and drive awareness and advocacy. This role offers you the chance to engage with diverse stakeholders, craft compelling content for multiple channels, and contribute to university-wide initiatives. You'll be at the forefront of showcasing cutting-edge engineering and technology, collaborating with communications and marketing colleagues to deliver impactful communications that resonate with both internal and external audiences.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Craft Engaging Content: Translate complex information into understandable messages for diverse audiences. Develop high-quality materials for various channels, including staff hub, websites, social media, and media releases.
  • Execute Communication Strategies: Support the implementation of integrated strategic communications plans and promotional strategies.
  • Manage Stakeholder Relationships: Collaborate with key internal stakeholders to plan and execute communications activities and events.
  • Drive Digital Presence: Publish content on the Faculty's news website and maintain media databases and image banks.

You may be a great fit if:

You are a versatile communications professional with strong writing skills and project management experience, capable of creating engaging content from complex sources across multiple platforms while navigating a dynamic university environment.

You may also:

  • Have a degree with relevant experience or extensive expertise in communications.
  • Demonstrate experience in content development for print, digital, and social channels.
  • Show strong project management abilities and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Be able to operate independently in an ambiguous, rapidly changing environment.

The University’s Communications and Marketing function provides strategic, advisory and operational services to support the academic mission and the University strategy. It fosters a culture of best practice and collaboration across the University’s communication and marketing teams and stakeholders, and uses data-driven insights to inform decision-making across the University.
