Job Summary

The Community Engagement Program Coordinator will support and lead initiatives that foster student involvement in service, civic engagement, and campus-community partnerships that enhance student belonging, retention, and success. Reporting to the Director of Community Engagement and Belonging, this role will coordinate volunteer programs, serve as a liaison for students and alumni engagement, and assist with the technology platforms for volunteer management and student organization management. Additionally, this position will coordinate with student engagement for marketing and social media promotion for service-related programs and registered student organizations.

Responsibilities

Programming - 40

  • Assess student program interests and create, develop, and plan high-impact events, workshops, and activities that promote student connection to campus and the community that improve student retention
  • Manage event logistics, including budgeting, marketing, vendor coordination, staffing, and post-event evaluations
  • Collaborate with student organizations, campus departments, and community partners to expand event offerings and maximize student participation
  • Help coordination and execution of various campus-wide and Community Engagement and Belonging events including but not limited to week of welcome, Bobcat marketplaces, admissions events, homecoming, Greek weekend, volunteer service days, and other campus events.

Administrative Support - 20

  • General office duties include submitting space reservations, scheduling meetings/events/appointments, answering phone calls, assisting visitors with requests, managing email and social media accounts
  • Supervise student support staff by assisting in delegating daily responsibilities.
  • Assists in advising and consulting with student service organizations and service council to plan events that contribute to retention and engagement.
  • Performs additional administrative duties as assigned

Assessment and Strategic Outreach - 20

  • Track participation and measure the impact of engagement efforts on student retention and satisfaction through management of GC Connect and GivePulse.
  • Utilize data to refine programming and target outreach to under engaged student populations
  • Prepares special reports; answers requests for information which may include completing questionnaires and compiling data from files to ensure programming aligns with retention goals.

Other - 5

  • Other duties as assigned, including but not limited to creating departmental marketing materials, assisting other departments with campus-wide events, and serve on various campus committees.

All employees within the Division of Student Life will assist with at least three (3) student events/programs per semester that occur outside of regular business hours. Non-exempt employees must coordinate with their immediate supervisor for pre-approval of event service and the appropriate adjustments to their normal work schedule to accommodate the non-business work hours.
Examples of events/programs which satisfy the event service requirement include but are not limited to:
Fall - Week of Welcome, Move-In days, Family Weekend.
Spring - Homecoming, Spring Concert, Family Day, preview days, and Junior Day.

Marketing and Outreach - 15

  • Develops and implements a comprehensive advertising and marketing plan to promote involvement in clubs, volunteer opportunities, and campus traditions to deepen student connections to campus and the community.
  • Collaborate with alumni relations and student engagement offices on joint initiatives.
  • Conduct targeted outreach to community partners to build and maintain relationships with the university.

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements

Bachelor's Degree

Required Experience

Prior involvement in student leadership, volunteer coordination, or community engagement programs.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Educational Qualifications

Enrollment in graduate level courses in Student Affairs, Higher Education, Public Administration, or a related discipline.

Preferred Experience

Demonstrated knowledge of student development theory, community engagement best practices, and/or college student retention programs.

Proposed Salary

This position is a pay grade 7. The available salary range is $40,729.00 to $59,068.00 . Starting salary within this range is based on relevant years of experience.
