We are seeking a Grade 6 Computational Biology Data Analyst to join the Computational Biology Facility at the University of Liverpool.

The role involves analysing biological and omics datasets, developing data workflows in R and/or Python, contributing to research data stewardship, and supporting researchers by delivering clear and reproducible insights.

Working under the guidance of senior colleagues, you will play an active role in interpreting results, communicating findings clearly, and helping to deliver impactful research across multiple scientific domains.

You should hold a Master’s degree (distinction or Merit with distinction in dissertation) in bioinformatics or a relevant field or have equivalent professional experience, along with strong coding skills in R or Python, excellent communication abilities, and good organisational skills. A commitment to reproducible, well-documented analysis is crucial. Experience with omics analysis is desirable but not essential for those eager to learn. The role provides an excellent environment for professional development, with opportunities to expand your computational skills, engage in training activities, and contribute to the development of analytical pipelines and visualisations. You will be encouraged to stay up to date with the latest methods in computational biology and to apply these appropriately under supervision, while managing your time effectively across multiple projects.

We welcome applicants who can demonstrate potential, motivation and a genuine interest in computational biology. Please apply with a CV and a short cover letter outlining how you meet the criteria. Note that our recruitment has two stages, with one including a task to complete to be considered for interview.

Commitment to Diversity

The University of Liverpool is committed to enhancing workforce diversity. We actively seek to attract, develop, and retain colleagues with diverse backgrounds and perspectives. We welcome applications from all genders/gender identities, Black, Asian, or Minority Ethnic backgrounds, individuals living with a disability, and members of the LGBTQIA+ community.
