De Montfort University (DMU) is a forward-thinking institution with a global perspective, committed to delivering top-tier teaching and research. As a university rich in culture and dedicated to the public good, DMU strives to create a stimulating, innovative, and inclusive environment where both staff and students can flourish. DMU is devoted to nurturing knowledge, innovation, and excellence, positioning itself as an empowering university. They are committed to offering students an exceptional technology experience and resources to bolster their academic and research pursuits.

Marketing and Communications Directorate

The Directorate offers full-service marketing and communications support to the university, comprising brand and creative development; design and print services; corporate and student recruitment marketing campaigns; CRM and conversion campaigns; faculty marketing and recruitment; reputation management; media relations and public affairs; internal and external communications engagement; events; admissions, schools and colleges engagement; widening participation; enquiry management and follow up; web and digital development and market insight.

The Role

As an Events Officer, you will lead the operational planning and delivery of events for faculties, departments, partners, and colleagues across the university. This includes organising both standalone events and those that are part of an overall events program, whether in-person, digital, or hybrid.

You will develop and manage clear event plans and schedules, ensuring seamless execution. Engaging with all relevant stakeholders, both internal and external, will be key to fostering collaboration and excellence.

You will manage your event budgets, including forecasting, raising orders, goods receipting, and supplier management. Offering expert advice on event planning and management, you will make informed recommendations for future events. Staying updated on industry developments, you will devise innovative event briefs and plans.

Ideal candidate

The ideal candidate will have experience running large-scale events as part of an overall events program and coordinating complex event projects involving multiple internal and external stakeholders. You should be able to work collaboratively, with the ability to successfully develop and manage positive stakeholder relationships, including influencing and negotiating as required.

Experience managing events within higher or further education is highly desirable, though candidates from outside the education sector are also welcome to apply.

Join us at DMU, and play a pivotal role in shaping our ambitious plans to deliver on The Empowering University Strategy.
