Position Summary The CONNECT Peer Mentor serves as a peer support for students with intellectual and developmental disabilities who are enrolled in the CONNECT Supported Education Program. computer knowledge and ability to operate standard office equipment Ability to work with students with varying degrees of disabilities Knowledge of the JCCC buildings and campus Preferred Qualifications Six months experience working with individuals with intellectual disabilities or enrolled in a social service-related field program Position Details Include but are not limited to: Provide social support for CONNECT students and model appropriate social interactions. Identify on-campus clubs, organizations, and events of interest to students and assist with participation and involvement. Provide academic support, time management, organization, study skills, and task analysis. Assist with weekly social and academic events for CONNECT students. Seek assistance from CONNECT Manager for students displaying challenging behaviors. Attend scheduled meetings with the CONNECT Manager or fellow mentors. Relay any communication updates about student progress or challenges that occur to the CONNECT Manager. To be considered for this position we will require an application and resume.
