Internal salary: Range 21 - Steps 1-11 - ($64,340.11 - $94,061.71)
External salary: Range 21 - Steps 1-4 ($64,340.11 - $73,256.59)
The internal salary range is used for applicants who are current NJ state employees with underlying classified status for promotional calculations who meet the requirements below. The external salary range is used for candidates who are not NJ state employees who meet the requirements below.

Position Overview
Residing in the Division of College Advancement, within the Office of Development, this position is responsible for a comprehensive fund-raising and community relations program targeted toward, but not limited to, alumni, friends of the College, faculty, staff, retired employees, parents, corporations and foundations. In addition to fund-raising initiatives, the Office of Development is responsible for an extensive events calendar and a highly-detailed level of customer service for related activities throughout the campus. Reporting to the Chief Development Officer and Campaign Manager for Development this position provides administrative support for the Office of Development.
TCNJ is committed to making a positive difference in the community and seeks to work with local, county and state leaders to enhance the relationship between the campus and its surrounding community. This is primarily achieved through the initiatives of the Government and Community Relations team. Primary responsibilities include relationship building between the campus and external stakeholders. This position will provide support to advance those responsibilities as well as aid the Director of Community Relations in dealings with local officials and community groups.
Responsibilities
Office of Development Responsibilities
Administrative Support: Reporting to the Chief Development Officer and Campaign Manager (CDO), the Coordinator provides administrative support for the Office of Development:
- Coordinator will organize and implement administrative systems and procedures to ensure CDO is supported efficiently and effectively
- Coordinator is responsible for answering phones, performing general office administrative duties, opening and sorting incoming mail (including checks), accurately recording all checks received, and then notifying gift officers when contributions are received from their assigned donors.
- Coordinator will oversee the development of comprehensive briefings that include biographical information and meeting logistics for the CDO.
- Coordinator will assist development staff, including Major Gift Officers, Annual Giving, and Corporate and Foundation Relations, with office needs as they arise.
- Coordinator oversees daily office operations to ensure effective communication and workflow; provides purchasing and procurement support for departmental needs; coordinates logistics for meetings, events, and special projects.
- Coordinator maintains and updates departmental databases and records; conducts research, prepares reports and briefings, and drafts, edits, and finalizes correspondence and other materials; collects and maintains data to produce accurate electronic and paper reports using various software systems.
- Composes, proofreads, and edits correspondence, reports, and other written materials; ensures all communications reflect professionalism, accuracy, and consistency with institutional standards.
Office of Government & Community Relations Responsibilities
Administrative Support: Supports the Associate Vice President (AVP) and Director of Government & Community Relations, housed within the Office of the President, by providing administrative support:
- Coordinator is responsible for answering phones, performing general office administrative duties, opening and sorting incoming mail.
- Coordinator oversees daily office operations to ensure effective communication and workflow; provides purchasing and procurement support for departmental needs; coordinates logistics for meetings, events, and special projects.
- Coordinator handles expenses, pays bills and reconciles departmental budgets.
- Coordinator assists in the coordination of external scheduling between the AVP, the Director and outside external stakeholders.
Community Liaison: Supports the Associate Vice President (AVP) and Director of Government & Community Relations, housed with the Office of the President, by serving as a liaison between the TCNJ campus and external community partners:
- Supports the planning committee for TCNJ's annual Community Fest by facilitating between Ewing officials and TCNJ staff to plan, execute, and day-of management of the College's highly-visible campus-community event, which is attended by several thousand regional stakeholders.
- Assist with planning and day-of logistics for high visibility public events on campus recommended by AVP and/or Director. Including any community event or Capital Campaign event as needed.
Developing Reports: Responsible for compiling biographical, financial and statistical information for the areas she supports, reporting and reconciling, as needed for Development, Alumni Engagement, Community and Government Relations and Community Fest. Further, she provides background reports on prospects for at least one of the areas she supports.
Event Planning: Organizes and participates in a number of department-directed events: Community Fest (she serves as chief organizer) Alumni Weekend Homecoming Commencement
Required
- High school and College Education
- Excellent organizational, time management, and communication skills with meticulous attention to detail. Ability to multi-task, work independently, take initiative and work with a multi-disciplined team
- Ability to respect, adhere to, and promote confidentiality of highest order, particularly with regard to constituent information, financial and academic records
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to provide daily and routine updates to the Advancement Division's constituent database system.
- Works Independently - Overall Responsibilities (across all departments): regularly works independently, making sound decisions in the performance of her duties for all three areas she supports (development alumni engagement and government and community relations.)
Preferred
Ability to assist with activities in support of events require ability to set up physical aspects related to special events for a variety of constituents (i.e., organizing registration and reception tables, setting up signage, etc.)
