Coordinator I (Research Program Coordinator)

Job Summary:

This position will support research by Prof. Mary Bassett within the Department of Social and Behavioral Sciences at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, with a focus on the right to health. The role involves coordinating a research project that examines the right to health within the framework of international humanitarian law, with particular attention to contexts in which attacks on healthcare facilities have impeded the enjoyment and full realization of this fundamental right.

Job-Specific Responsibilities:

  • Research Development and Support: Support the development and refinement of research topics, questions, and thematic priorities related to the right to health in conflict settings and international humanitarian law. Conduct background research and assist in synthesizing relevant literature, policy developments, and emerging debates. Support the preparation and development of research outputs, including reports, policy briefs and academic publications.
  • Project Coordination and Implementation: Coordinate the day-to-day planning and implementation of the research project, ensuring that activities advance according to agreed objectives, timelines, and priorities. Track project milestones, deadlines, and deliverables, and maintain organized documentation of research activities and decisions. Provide administrative and operational support to ensure the smooth execution of project activities.
  • Team Coordination and Communications: Facilitate communication and coordination across research team members, helping to ensure alignment, timely follow-up, and steady progress across workstreams. Schedule meetings, prepare meeting notes, and monitor action items. Serve as a central point of coordination for internal communications related to project activities.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Assist in stakeholder mapping and outreach to academic experts, practitioners, and relevant institutional partners. Support relationship-building and engagement efforts with academics, practitioners and organizations working on health, humanitarian law, and conflict-related issues. Help prepare briefing materials, correspondence, and other communications for external engagement

PLEASE NOTE: This position has a term appointment of 6/30/2027 with the potential for extension. PLEASE NOTE: This is a benefits-eligible, part-time position with a schedule of 17.5 hours/week.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of relevant experience is required; a combination of education and experience may be considered

Additional Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree
  • Experience using REDCap, WordPress, Mail Chimp, and social media sites in context of professional communications
  • Solid working knowledge of office operations and related computer software (including the Microsoft Office Suite) and electronic communications tools
  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational and time management skills
  • Proven interpersonal skills with experience in providing administrative support across groups and across a variety of projects
  • Strong listening, communication, writing, presentation, and problem-solving skills
  • Aptitude to effectively collaborate and communicate with a broad range of researchers, partners, and audiences
