About This Position

Experience with Computers and Education (Nursing Education preferred). Effective communication and interpersonal skills required. Working knowledge of standard office equipment. Computer proficiency required with an emphasis on word processing, spreadsheet, and data management skills. Basic courtesy, tact, diplomacy, negotiation and influence skills required, as well as effective problem–solving skills and the ability to operate independently, prioritize and organize own work schedule, multitask, and meets established deadlines. Excellent recordkeeping, attention to details and organization skills required. Oversees the Standardized Testing of all students of the Nursing Program and collaborates with vendors with the purchasing of standardized tests. Evaluate current technology used by faculty and provide pedagogical and technical support in curricular design and development.

Summary of Duties

What You’ll Do:

  • Coordinates all testing and teaching / learning activities in the Computer Lab for all nursing courses.
  • Schedules and proctors standardized tests and NCLEX–RN preparation exams for the day and evening divisions.
  • Designs spreadsheets to record and maintain assessment data on each student. This data is used by faculty to assess students’ knowledge, proficiency and predictability of passing NCLEX–RN.
  • Reports standardized test results to administration and faculty.
  • Create and deliver training programs, advise and educate faculty, staff and students about the availability of technological resources within the Nursing Department and College community.
  • Will work independently with faculty and students to ensure smooth operations in the technological aspect of the testing process.
  • Ensures computer lab is operational and equipped with appropriate technical requirements for testing and other electronic programs used in the nursing curriculum.
  • Serves as the ATI point person for faculty and students and is fluent with ATI resources to support faculty in best practices for implementing ATI.
  • Assists faculty with monitoring, gathering, summarizing, and analyzing student usage of ATI data.
  • Obtains and keeps accurate records of student access codes for electronic programs provided by Nursing Program.
  • Actively participates in accreditation reports by compiling information and authoring when appropriate.
  • Participates on Nursing Program Committees: Faculty Organization (Member) and Resources Committee (Secretary).
  • Conducts student satisfaction surveys for resources and technology to improve services.
  • Selects and organizes print books provided in the Computer Lab for study and reference.
  • Serves as liaison to the HCCC Library. Recommends print and E–Resources to ensure the nursing collection is accessible, current, and comprehensive; and complies with accreditation standards.
  • Informs those supported regarding product / technical updates for electronic resources used in the Nursing Program.
  • Facilitates vendor onsite visits and training sessions for orienting students and faculty in using electronic products, as needed.
  • Supervises student workers and provides guidance, direction, and training regarding work activities in the Computer Lab.
  • Performs other various support activities, as needed or assigned. Remains flexible and adaptable in work schedules and work assignments as defined by College and departmental needs.
  • Attends approved conferences and reads professional publications to ensure on-going professional development.
  • Participates in Achieving the Dream (ATD) Information Sessions and provides information when requested.

Qualifications

What You’ll Need

  • Associates Degree required, Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • Experience with Computers and Educational Programs (Nursing Education preferred)
