We’re looking for a Corporate Communications Manager to play a key role in developing and delivering an integrated communications strategy, leading a proactive and reactive media, social media, PR and thought leadership programme to support LSTM’s reputation.
Working closely with academic colleagues and External Relations, you'll tell the story of our research and ensure our strengths and excellence are well known to journalists, MPs, and external partners.
Day to day, you'll develop and deliver operational plans for BAU activities and projects, curate content and press releases, co-ordinate media coverage, manage social media channels, and develop innovative thought leadership and public affairs activities in the UK and internationally.
Key responsibilities:
- Contribute to developing and implementing an integrated corporate communications strategy and action plans
- Plan, and implement an annual plan for external communications activities, identifying and selecting the most effective channels
- Lead external communications projects from planning to evaluation
- Manage and develop LSTM’s social media presence, tailor campaigns for each channel
- Deliver a crisis communications framework, supporting Emergency Management and Business Continuity Plans
- Secure thought leadership and speaking opportunities for academics
- Build strong relationships with regional, national, international, trade media
- Provide expert media, PR, and social media advice to colleagues
What we’re looking for:
- Degree or equivalent work experience in relevant field
- Experience designing and delivering media strategies, campaigns, and proactive/reactive PR in complex environments
- Recent practical experience of crisis management, out of hours media service
- Experience handling challenging media situations and thinking strategically
- Knowledge and experience of legal, compliance and regulatory issues e.g. GDPR, CMA, ASA
