"COUNSELOR"

THIS POSTING WILL FILL MULTIPLE POSITIONS-

Provide counseling and counseling-related services to university students. Also, provide mental health consultation and outreach services to the university community.

Required Qualifications:

Working knowledge of the practices, procedures, processes, and/or protocols for the provision of counseling services in a mental health agency or college or university counseling center. Working knowledge of college student development.

Experience in a mental health or private setting providing mental health treatment services to young adults.

Special Licenses, registration, or certification:

Licensed in VA as a licensed professional counselor, psychologist, or social worker.

Education or Training:

Master’s degree in a mental health field, counseling, social work or psychology. Internship at a University/College Counseling Services or mental health agency.
Completion of graduate internship at a mental health agency.

Additional Considerations (supplemental knowledge, skills, abilities, experience, licensure, certification:

Doctoral degree in counseling, social work or psychology.

Conditions of Employment:

Hourly (wage) employees are restricted to working 29 hours per week on average or 1500 hours in total in the May 1 – April 30 period. This position does not have health insurance, retirement or leave.

These part-time positions work 20 hours per week for nine-month terms during the academic year.

Licensed in the state of Virginia in good standing.

This is not a remote position.
