The Department of Biological Sciences in the College of Natural and Health Sciences at the University of Northern Colorado is seeking a Contract Renewable Assistant Professor of Biology in Ecology/Evolution.

Position Summary:
This position is a nine-month contract renewable, appointment at the Assistant Professor rank in the Department of Biological Sciences within the College of Natural and Health Sciences. Responsibilities include teaching (80%) and research (20%). The successful candidate will teach General Ecology and Evolution both fall and spring semesters at the undergraduate level, including design of accompanying laboratories and supervision of graduate teaching assistants. In addition, the successful candidate will teach introductory biology courses and graduate level courses, including Conservation Biology. This position includes a dedicated research component. It is expected that the successful applicant will establish collaborative research with current faculty.
Job Duties:
80% teaching and 20% research as outlined above.
Minimum Qualifications:
This position requires a doctoral degree in biology or ecology/evolution (or closely related field) and demonstrated experience in or potential for teaching college level biology lectures and/or laboratories.
Candidates must also have demonstrated research experience in an area related to ecology/evolution, as evidenced by scholarly works.
Preferred Qualifications
The successful candidate will have potential for excellence in teaching ecology/evolution courses with associated laboratories; an ability to design undergraduate laboratories using modern pedagogy such as CUREs; and potential for innovative, learner-centered classroom teaching. The successful candidate will have the potential to develop a research collaborations in ecology/evolution and postdoctoral experience including grant writing. Candidates should also have experience in mentoring students in research and/or teaching. A commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion is expected.
