JOB FUNCTION
Under the direction of the Senior Program Coordinator assist with and management the Gibbs College of Architecture's Creating_Making Labs (Innovation, Teaching and Research Labs) to include all aspects of operating a model shop/research lab with tools, equipment, and machinery with a high degree of expertise and safety.
JOB DUTIES
- Create and maintain accurate and up-to-date inventory for C_ML tools and supplies.
- Support in maintaining occupational safety standards for both C_ML and Gould Hall.
- Support with transport and delivery of items procured for research, course preparation, and overall supply needs for both the C_ML/Gould Hall.
- Aid in the organization, retaining and discarding of all storage needs for GCA (Saxon, C_ML and Gould).
- Install, maintain, and repair machinery and equipment.
- Maintain a clean and orderly shop.
- Calibrate digital equipment as needed (Router, Lasers and 3d Printers).
- Support with building upgrades and instructional changes for both Gould Hall and C_ML (building maintenance and improvements).
- Coordinate an efficient and thorough training program for both new faculty and new students.
- Organize schedules and operational needs of special initiatives.
- Support design students with studio-related fabrication projects throughout the fall, spring, and summer semesters.
- Maintain a working knowledge of traditional and digital fabrication tools, and 2D/3D representation techniques and software.
- Maintain shop records of student attendance and time sheets.
- Work and/or coordinate collaborative initiatives with other shops/colleges on campus and within the state as deemed appropriate by the Senior Program Coordinator.
- Occasionally assist faculty with course instruction related to the use of the C_ML and its fabrication facilities.
- All other duties as deemed appropriate by the Building Operations Manager, Senior Program Coordinator, Associate Dean for Administration, or the Dean.
