Description
Walla Walla Community College (WWCC) is seeking applicants for a full-time, Culinary Arts Instructor at the Walla Walla campus. The start date is at the beginning of the Fall quarter in September 2025.

General Description:
This position will be responsible for instruction and curriculum development for the culinary arts program, student support and mentorship, faculty and governance engagement, maintaining office hours, and other related activities.
Essential Functions:
Teaching and Related Responsibilities:
- Effectively teach the adopted curriculum at a variety of skill levels and evaluate student progress towards learning objectives for the culinary arts program.
- Create program-learning activities that supports individual student learning needs and the appropriate evaluation of student progress towards the learning objectives.
- Provide structured, hands-on instruction in culinary arts, ensuring students actively perform all aspects of production, planning, and service. Ensure students partake in menu planning and execution, daily production and plating, and the kitchen workflow.
- Ensuring all recipes used in instruction and food service operations are standardized, costed, and reviewed for alignment with instructional Farm to Fork initiatives and budgetary goals.
- Advise students on academic and career pathways, actively mentoring them in job placement and industry networking with varied backgrounds and career goals.
- Develop and update curriculum as required by the College to respond to industry trends and to improve equitable student outcomes.
- Evaluate student progress towards attaining the learning outcomes, including thoughtfully designed individual assignments, projects, quizzes, and standardized tests.
- Design inclusive instructional strategies, including classroom, small groups, and individualized instruction, to reach all students, and select and evaluate the materials needed to implement these strategies.
- Actively participate in industry advisory board meetings and community partnerships to strengthen program alignment and student job placement.
- Work closely with our Farm to Fork team to ensure that production and instructional needs are aligned.
- Maintain and submit student records, documentation, and program reports.
- Maintain structured office hours.

- Demonstrated attention to detail required as well as previous experience maintaining accurate records, managing multiple tasks, and planning and organizing work in order to meet changing priorities and deadlines.
- Ability to represent the college in a positive and professional manner, while using tact, discretion, and courtesy.
- Ability to work effectively and engage with adult learners as well as with individuals whose first language is not English.
- Ability to design learning experiences that are interactive and respectful of cultural differences.
Required Qualifications:
- Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered at the discretion of the college.
- Five years of management experience in the culinary industry.
- Experience writing program curriculum and an interest in innovative strategies and delivery.
- Obtain and maintain a Washington State Food Handler's Permit and Serv-Safe Instructor/Proctor certification within 90 days of hire.
- Have or acquire within 90 days of initial employment a current healthcare provider CPR, First Aid and Blood borne Pathogen Certificates.
- Experience and/or willingness to incorporate technology in the classroom.
- Ability to proctor National Restaurant Association Serve-Safe certifications.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate Degree in Culinary Arts, hospitality or other appropriate discipline.
- Teaching experience and current knowledge in all phases of culinary arts.
- Bilingual English/Spanish

Conditions/Terms of Employment
This is a full-time, instructor position exempt from the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act. Faculty terms and conditions of employment are negotiated with their exclusive bargaining representative, the Association for Higher Education. A complete copy of the agreement can be found on the WWCC Human Resources Page.
Persons hired must be able to provide acceptable documentation of lawful authorization to work in the United States within three (3) days of employment and official college transcripts. WWCC participates in E-Verify and will provide the federal government with your Form I-9 information to confirm that you are authorized to work in the U.S. Candidates will be subject to a criminal history background check as a condition for consideration of employment. Information from the background check may not necessarily preclude employment but will be considered in determining the applicant's suitability and competence to perform in the position. The College is a tobacco-free campus.
Compensation:
The College has a negotiated faculty salary schedule. Employee placement on the schedule is determined by education level and experience. Salary is dependent on the number of days of the contract and the candidate's placement on the negotiated faculty salary schedule. Initial placement is generally $73,032 - $83,257 for a standard 176-day contract, dependent on qualifications (additional compensation for doctorate degree). The College has a comprehensive faculty benefit program including medical, dental, life, and long-term disability insurance; paid sick leave; and retirement and two optional deferred compensation programs. All full-time employees will automatically have 3% of taxable income deferred into the State of Washington Deferred Compensation Program (DCP). The college also supports faculty professional development. Walla Walla Community College requires all employees to participate in direct deposit for payment of salary.
