Job Description
Performs cleaning and washing duties, including cleaning pots, pans, machinery, equipment, utensils, and floors, following established routines. Adheres to chemical labels and MSDS instructions for proper handling of cleaning supplies and equipment. Set up and operates dish machines and other cleaning equipment. Disposes of trash and waste, sweeps and cleans designated areas, and assists in cleaning dining and serving rooms. Organizes and collects equipment for catered events, maintaining a neat and orderly work area.
MAJOR AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
- Ensure all pots and pans are thoroughly cleaned, organized, and stored in accordance with operational standards.
- Set up, clean, and maintain the dishwashing machine to ensure optimal functionality and cleanliness.
- Set up, clean, and maintain the pot sink area, ensuring it remains hygienic and efficient for use.
- Stock the kitchen daily with aprons and cleaning towels to support daily operations.
- Help with light food preparation as needed to support kitchen operations.
- Promptly clean up spills in both the service and kitchen areas to maintain a safe and clean environment.
- Sweep and mop at the end of every shift.
- Adhere to all daily and weekly cleaning schedules to maintain cleanliness and organization throughout the kitchen.
- Monitor trash levels and disposal of waste as needed to ensure a tidy and functional workspace.
- Maintain a work area that is properly set up, stocked, rotated, organized, clean, safe, and fully functional always.
- Monitor the pot sink area to be sure that all chemical levels are correct using chemical test strips.
- Keep all chemicals properly stocked and always labeled.
- Will be called upon to assist with putting orders away in other locations as needed.
- Follow all Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) guidelines to ensure the safe handling and use of cleaning chemicals and equipment.
- Provide excellent customer service by serving guests in a friendly, professional, and attentive manner when necessary.
- Assist with the setup, service, and cleanup of catered events as required, ensuring high-quality standards are maintained.
- Perform other similar or related duties as required or requested.

- All documentation is recorded accurately and timely.
- Follow all chemical guidelines according to the Material Safety Data Sheets.
- Superior customer service and communications skills are needed to provide a welcoming, friendly and professional manner to all of our guests.
- Offer training/support to co-workers, staff and students where applicable.
- Follow all verbal and written instructions from managers/supervisors.
- Have the ability to frequently lift up to 25 pounds, occasionally lift up to 50 pounds and 100 with assistance.
- All staff are considered to be emergency essential personnel and are required to report during times of inclement weather.
- Schedule flexibility is important; you need to be aware of the academic calendar and special event dates. We will/may adjust schedules due to events on campus.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Up to two years related work experience is preferred.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Ability to frequently lift up to 25 pounds, occasionally lift up to 50 pounds and 100 with assistance.
- ServSafe Food Safety Certification or training is required. If training is not up-to-date, training/certification must be completed upon 3-6 months from date of hire.
- Food allergy training is essential and prior experience in special food allergy meal preparation is preferred. If a candidate does not have prior experience, the necessary training must be completed upon hiring.
- Excellent customer service and appropriate communication skills are needed to provide a welcoming, professional and safe environment for students and guests. Upon hiring the following additional training must be completed on a yearly basis: Title IX harassment training, Security awareness training.
DAYS & HOURS: Holy Cross Dining staff are considered Emergency Essential Personnel and are required to report during times of inclement weather. Must be flexible. Schedule may change depending on the needs of the department. CURRENT SCHEDULE: Flexible Schedule

Salary: This is a full time, non exempt position with a hourly rate of $17.00
