Custodial Worker
The Custodial Worker is responsible for general cleaning. Duties include sweeping, scrubbing, mopping, waxing, and polishing floors using hand tools or power equipment. The job also involves removing trash and debris; cleaning classrooms, offices, restrooms, walkways, entrances, swimming pools, and showers; and restocking supplies in restrooms.
The role requires climbing ladders and scaffolding, maintaining cleaning equipment, moving furniture, and shoveling snow when needed.
The standard work schedule is 9:30 AM to 6:00 PM, but hours, days, shifts, and locations may change based on operational needs. Overtime may be required.
Under the Disaster Preparedness and University State of Emergency Policy 6.17, this is a standby position.
A criminal background check is required.
Required Qualifications
- Able to count and read warning signs.
- Able to work different shifts as needed.
- May work in hot, cold, or changing weather conditions.
- May need to handle hazardous materials.
- Must be able to stand, walk, and grip tools for long periods.
- Must be able to kneel, stoop, crouch, squat, and reach often.
- Must be able to push, pull, lift, and carry up to 50 pounds frequently.
The target hiring range for this job profile is $15.30-$19.13 per hour. The actual salary paid to an individual will vary based on multiple factors, including but not limited to, education, years of experience, internal equity, etc.
