Utilizing excellent customer service and high attention to detail, perform general custodial duties as directed by departmental leadership.
Job Description
Essential Functions:
- Upon direction and training from the Team Lead of Custodial Services, follow established cleaning procedures and techniques.
- Completes duties not limited to sweeping, vacuuming, and mopping floors; dusting and polishing furniture and woodwork.
- Cleans restrooms and replenishes supplies.
- Empties and cleans waste and recycling receptacles; picks up paper and trash.
- Cleans relight glass, windows, and walls.
- Cleans decks, balconies, sidewalks, offices, laundry rooms, and common space areas.
- Sets up, moves, and arranges furniture and equipment.
- Turns out lights and locks doors and windows, as required.
- Maintains custodial areas and equipment so they are clean and presentable.
- Unloads supply deliveries and organizes materials as needed.
- Launder housekeeping materials as requested by leadership.
- Works on special projects and cleans other facilities, as assigned.
- Reports all matters of safety to the Supervisor.
- Follows all University and departmental policies and procedures.
- Performs other duties as assigned by departmental leadership.
Other Functions:
May be designated as essential personnel for inclement weather or other unusual conditions, as required to perform essential services to support student needs and business continuity per Human Resources Policy.
Required Education, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to read and understand safety procedures, cleaning instructions, and schedules.
- Ability to communicate effectively in the English language sufficient to perform the duties of the position.
- Ability to build and maintain an effective working relationship with a diverse group of students, faculty, and staff.
- Ability to understand and interpret terminology related to the area of work.
- Ability to understand and follow the vision, structure, culture, philosophy, values, and code of ethics of the facilities department and Wake Forest University as a whole.
- Ability to work independently or as a part of a team.
- Physical abilities: Climbing, stooping, kneeling, standing, walking either within your respective areas or between areas on campus, lifting up to 50 pounds, pushing, pulling, and grasping.
- Subject to both inside and outside environmental conditions, including hazards.
Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
High school graduate plus one year of work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
