Job Description Summary
Utilizing excellent customer service and high attention to detail, perform general custodial duties as directed by departmental leadership.

Job Description
Essential Functions:
- Upon direction and training from the Team Lead of Custodial Services, following established cleaning procedures and techniques.
- Completes duties not limited to sweeping, vacuuming, and mopping floors; dusting and polishing furniture and woodwork.
- Cleans restrooms and replenishes supplies.
- Empties and cleans waste and recycling receptacles; picks up paper and trash.
- Cleans relight glass, windows, and walls.
- Cleans decks, balconies, sidewalks, offices, laundry rooms, and common space areas.
- Sets up, moves, and arranges furniture and equipment.
- Turns out lights and locks doors and windows, as required.
- Maintains custodial areas and equipment so they are clean and presentable.
- Unloads supply deliveries and organizes materials as needed.
- Launder housekeeping materials as requested by leadership.
- Works on special projects and cleans other facilities, as assigned.
- Reports all matters of safety to the Supervisor.
- Follows all University and departmental policies and procedures.
- Performs other duties as assigned by departmental leadership.
Other Functions:
- May volunteer as an essential employee as designated in the Facilities Management Severe Weather Policy.
Required Education, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to read and understand safety procedures, cleaning instructions, and schedules.
- Ability to communicate effectively in the English language sufficient to perform the duties of the position.
- Ability to build and maintain an effective working relationship with students, faculty, and staff who are subtly or different than yourself.
- Ability to understand and interpret terminology related to the area of work.
- Ability to understand and follow the vision, structure, culture, philosophy, values, and code of ethics of the facilities department and Wake Forest University as a whole.
- Ability to work independently or as a part of a team.
- Subject to both inside and outside environmental conditions including hazards.
- This position may be designated as essential personnel to support business continuity during campus emergencies, disasters, or other special needs as directed by management.
Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
High school graduate plus one year of work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Physical Requirements:
Climbing, stooping, kneeling, standing, walking either within your respective areas or between areas on campus, lifting up to 50 pounds, pushing, pulling, and grasping.
Environmental Conditions:
Subject to both inside and outside environmental conditions and hazards.
