The Data Architect leads the design, integration, and optimization of data systems supporting Slate CRM (for admissions and student success) and institutional analytics. This role ensures data integrity, accessibility, and security across the university's enterprise systems, enabling data-driven decision making, and enhancing the student experience.
Supervisory Responsibilities:

Duties/Responsibilities:
Slate CRM (Admissions & Student Success):
- Serve as the technical lead for Slate CRM, managing data architecture, integrations, and workflows.
- Design and maintain data pipelines between Slate and SIS, financial aid, and other systems.
- Develop custom queries, reports, and dashboards for admissions, enrollment, and student success teams.
- Ensure data governance and compliance with FERPA and institutional policies.
Analytics & Reporting:
- Architect and maintain the data warehouse and business intelligence environment.
- Collaborate with Enrollment Management and Institutional Research to deliver predictive analytics for enrollment, retention, and student outcomes.
- Implement ETL processes for clean, consistent data across multiple sources.
- Support data visualization tools (e.g., Informer, Tableau, Power BI) for executive dashboards and operational reporting.
Data Architect Responsibilities:
- Data Modeling: Design logical and physical data models for academic, administrative, and student systems.
- Integration Strategy: Develop middleware solutions for seamless data exchange between ERP, CRM, LMS, as well as third-party applications including third-party solutions such as iData.
- Data Governance: Establish standards for data quality, security, and lifecycle management.
- Performance Optimization: Monitor and tune database performance for scalability and reliability.
- Compliance: Ensure adherence to FERPA, GDPR, and cybersecurity best practices.
- Perform related work as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Expertise in Slate CRM configuration and data management.
- Proficiency in SQL, ETL tools, and data warehousing technologies.
- Experience with reporting and analytics platforms (Informer, Tableau, Power BI).
- Strong understanding of data governance frameworks and compliance requirements.
- Experience working in a policy and procedure driven IT environment.
- Ability to work and participate in a team environment.
- Outstanding work, task and time management aptitudes.
- Excellent information gathering, research, and reporting skills.
- Exceptional interpersonal communication skills.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's Degree
Experience:
- 5+ years of experience in Slate administration, data architecture or database administration, preferably in higher education.
Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Salary:
- The annual salary for this position is $100,000-105,000.
Hours Expectation:
- Full-time, 35 hours per week with some weekend or evening work required
