Āu Mahi | What You Will Do
As a Data Engineer, you’ll design, build, and operate secure, scalable data pipelines and platforms across AWS and Azure to accelerate analytics and machine learning at UC. You’ll deliver curated data products, golden paths, and self-service patterns that balance compliance with autonomy.
You’ll work within the Data & AI Enablement team, partnering with faculties, professional services, and project teams to develop data-driven tools and processes that support UC’s mission of delivering outstanding outcomes for students, staff, and communities.
Mōu | Who You Are
You are an experienced data engineer with at least 4 years’ experience in building pipelines and data platforms. You bring:
- Previous experience using Snowflake for data warehousing and DBT for data transformations.
- Proficient with standard reporting and visualisation tools such as Power BI, as well as cloud environments.
- Good understanding of data analytics techniques and an in-depth understanding of data warehousing concepts.
- Advanced SQL skills with hands-on experience working with relational databases, writing complex queries, and familiarity with a range of database technologies.
- Demonstrated experience with:
- programming Languages like: SQL | NoSQL, Python, R, JavaScript
- data discovery and data structures
- Knowledge of Frameworks such as: AWS, AZURE, Dimensional Data Modelling, Star Schemas, Data Marts and Data Vaults.
- Knowledge of Delta Lake/Iceberg, CDC, and CI/CD automation
- Excellent collaboration and stakeholder engagement skills
