Job Summary

The Department of AI and Health at Augusta University seeks an experienced Lead Data Science Analyst 3 to guide our development team in creating innovative solutions that advance healthcare research and clinical applications. This leadership role combines strategic vision with hands-on collaboration, driving the development of scalable systems that support cutting-edge healthcare research and clinical applications.

Responsibilities

The responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

System Design & Development

• Lead and collaborate with team members throughout the full software development lifecycle to design and implement effective, scalable solutions.
• Ensure systems meet quality, security, and compliance standards while aligning with organizational goals.
• Promote adaptability by exploring emerging technologies and methodologies to enhance performance and innovation.

Application Development & Maintenance

• Oversee the development and maintenance of applications and data systems to meet evolving research and operational needs.
• Work closely with stakeholders to understand requirements, prioritize tasks, and deliver solutions that improve efficiency and impact.
• Foster clear documentation and knowledge sharing to support team collaboration and continuity.

Leadership & Team Development

• Mentor and support team members, encouraging professional growth and continuous learning.
• Promote a positive, inclusive work environment that values collaboration, accountability, and innovation.
• Coordinate with project management to ensure timelines and deliverables are met while maintaining high standards of quality.

Innovation & Strategic Growth

• Identify opportunities for improvement and innovation in systems, processes, and research applications.
• Contribute to long-term planning and strategy to advance the department's reputation and capabilities.
• Stay current with industry trends and best practices, actively engaging in professional forums and networks.

Professional Development

• Maintain and expand expertise through ongoing education, certifications, and participation in professional communities.
• Support special projects and initiatives that align with departmental goals and foster growth.

Required Qualifications

Master's degree from an accredited college or university in Data Science, Computer Science, Biomedical Informatics, Statistics, Engineering, or a related field with three years related experience.

OR

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Data Science, Computer Science, Biomedical Informatics, Statistics, Engineering, or a related field with five years related experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior involvement in healthcare, academic operations, or public sector analytics.
• Familiarity with EHR systems (Epic, Encompass) or academic admissions systems (AMCAS).

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

• Ability to maintain confidentiality.
• Detail-oriented.
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases.

Shift/Salary/Benefits

Shift: Days/M-F (work outside of normal business hours will likely be required of an employee in an exempt level position)

Pay Band: B13

Salary Range: $68,500/annually - $87,300/annually

Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position.
