Job Description:
The Dean, Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences provides administrative oversight, leadership, coordination, and guidance to all departments in the division. The Dean provides day-to-day administrative oversight of the General Education program, including related committees and assessment processes; and provides direct line supervision of the following officers of the College: Department Head, English and Communications; Department Head, Humanities and Social Sciences; Department Head, Performing Arts; and Department Head, Visual Arts. This position helps ensure that the College is in compliance with all requirements of institutional accreditation, appropriate program accrediting agencies, and all state and federal academic regulations and policies; assists in the development, management, revision, and improvement of educational programs across the district; and uses institutional research and other data from the institutional effectiveness accountability process for evaluating the continuous improvement of academic programs; as well as assisting with implementing strategic initiatives to increase recruitment and enrollment and improve retention rates and completion rates. Reports to the Vice President, Academic and Student Affairs.
Minimum Qualifications: Graduation from a regionally-accredited institution with a master's degree; must meet Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges requirements for teaching in a discipline in the division; at least four years of full-time teaching and academic administrative experience; knowledge of, and experience in, strategic planning, budget management, program development, and accreditation processes; and teaching experience. Successful results of a criminal background check are required.
Pursuant to College policy, it is an employment eligibility requirement for an applicant to meet the requirements of § 435.04(2), Florida Statutes, related to background investigations. Any person failing to meet the requirements of the statute will be deemed not qualified to hold employment in this position. A Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) approved background check will be conducted on every successful candidate as a condition of employment, and any person who fails to disclose any adverse information contained in the background investigation at the time of submitting the employment application will be disqualified from employment.
Annual Salary: $75,000.00 – $85,000.00
