Comenius University Bratislava, Faculty of Law (hereinafter also referred to as “PraF UK”), hereby announces the election of the Dean (hereinafter also referred to as the “election of the Dean of PraF UK”) for the term of office from 1 February 2027 to 31 January 2031.
The Academic Senate of Comenius University Bratislava, Faculty of Law (hereinafter referred to as the “Senate”) and the Presidium of the Academic Senate of Comenius University Bratislava, Faculty of Law (hereinafter referred to as the “Presidium”) (the Presidium within the scope of Article 2(3) of Internal Regulation of Comenius University Bratislava, Faculty of Law No. 5/2025, Principles for the Election of the Dean of Comenius University Bratislava, Faculty of Law), on the basis of:
- Article 17(1) of Internal Regulation of Comenius University Bratislava No. 25/2025, Full Text of Internal Regulation No. 5/2023, Statute of Comenius University Bratislava, as amended by Amendment No. 1 and Amendment No. 2;
- Article 24(1) of the full text of Internal Regulation No. 3/2026, the Statute of Comenius University Bratislava, Faculty of Law (the full text of Internal Regulation No. 6/2023, as amended by Amendment No. 1);
- Article 2 of Internal Regulation of Comenius University Bratislava, Faculty of Law No. 5/2025, Principles for the Election of the Dean of Comenius University Bratislava, Faculty of Law:
announced the election of the Dean of Comenius University Bratislava, Faculty of Law, for the term of office from 1 February 2027 to 31 January 2031 (hereinafter referred to as the “election of the Dean of PraF UK”).
The Dean is the representative of the Faculty and a body of the academic self-government of the Faculty; the Dean manages the Faculty, represents it, and acts in matters concerning the Faculty. The Dean is appointed by the Rector for a four-year term of office on the basis of an election by the Electoral Assembly.
The election of the candidate for the office of Dean shall take place at a meeting of the Electoral Assembly on 19 October 2026 at 9:00 a.m. in the AUDITORIUM MAXIMUM room at Šafárikovo námestie 6, 810 00 Bratislava, in the building of Comenius University Bratislava, Faculty of Law.

Eligibility criteria
A candidate for the office of Dean of Comenius University Bratislava, Faculty of Law (PraF UK), for the term of office from 1 February 2027 to 31 January 2031, must be nominated by a nominator from among the members of the academic community of PraF UK, and the nomination must meet the requirements laid down in Article 3 of Internal Regulation of Comenius University Bratislava, Faculty of Law No. 5/2025, Principles for the Election of the Dean of Comenius University Bratislava, Faculty of Law.
Selection process
Candidates for the office of Dean may be nominated by any member of the academic community of PraF UK. The proposed candidate must consent to their candidacy. Nominations of candidates for the election of the Dean may be submitted from 17 June 2026 until 23 September 2026, 12:00 noon, to the Secretary of the Academic Senate of Comenius University Bratislava, Faculty of Law, Prof. JUDr. Martina Gajdošová, PhD., either in person or through the Filing Office of Comenius University Bratislava, Faculty of Law. The nominations shall be submitted in paper form and signed by the nominator or nominators (candidates may be nominated by members of the academic community of the Faculty of Law of Comenius University Bratislava); the nomination must be accompanied, no later than within the same deadline and in the same manner as specified above, by a declaration of the candidate for Dean stating that they consent to their candidacy in the election of the candidate for Dean, and by their brief curriculum vitae; the nomination may, but does not have to, include a project concerning the activities and development of the Faculty for the forthcoming term of office of the Dean; nominations of candidates for the election of the Dean must meet the requirements laid down in Article 3 of Internal Regulation of Comenius University Bratislava, Faculty of Law No. 5/2025, Principles for the Election of the Dean of Comenius University Bratislava, Faculty of Law (hereinafter also referred to as the Principles for the Election of the Dean of PraF UK).
Election Procedure
The meeting of the Electoral Assembly at which the election of the Dean will take place shall be held on 19 October 2026 at 9:00 a.m. in the AUDITORIUM MAXIMUM room at Šafárikovo námestie 6, 810 00 Bratislava, in the building of Comenius University Bratislava, Faculty of Law.
The candidate for Dean shall address the Electoral Assembly at its meeting and answer questions from the members of the Electoral Assembly, the members of the academic community of the Faculty present, and other employees of the Faculty. The candidates’ addresses shall take place in the order determined by lot, organised by the chairperson. The other candidates shall attend the address of a candidate; however, their absence from the address shall not constitute an obstacle to the candidate for Dean delivering their address.
The Electoral Assembly may decide on the duration of the candidates’ addresses. The Electoral Assembly may decide on the duration of the candidates’ addresses only before the first candidate for Dean delivers their address. The duration of the address must be the same for each candidate for Dean.
The meeting of the Electoral Assembly shall be public, except for the act of the election of the Dean itself, the act of voting on consent to the removal of the Dean, and the counting of votes. All members of the Electoral Assembly, all members of the academic community of the Faculty, other employees of the Faculty, members of the bodies of the Faculty who are not members of the academic community of the Faculty, and the Rector and Vice-Rectors of the University, or persons authorised by them, shall have the right to be present at the meeting. If space permits, other persons may also be present at the public part of the meeting of the Electoral Assembly, with members of the Alumni Club of the Faculty having priority right of attendance. Where the person chairing the Electoral Assembly finds that the capacity of the room in which the Electoral Assembly is meeting has clearly been reached, that person shall take appropriate measures to ensure the right of attendance of the persons referred to in the second sentence. If it is not possible for all persons referred to in the second sentence to attend the meeting of the Electoral Assembly, the chairperson shall ensure that priority attendance is given to all members of the Electoral Assembly, all members of the bodies of the Faculty, and the Rector and Vice-Rectors of the University, or persons authorised by them.
The Electoral Assembly shall be chaired and its activities directed, by virtue of their office, by the Chair of the Academic Senate of PraF UK, or by another person pursuant to Article 1(4) of the Principles for the Election of the Dean of PraF UK.
After the candidates’ addresses and the conclusion of the public discussion with the candidates, the election of the candidate for Dean shall take place. The chairperson of the Electoral Assembly shall invite the members of the Electoral Assembly to proceed to a separate election room. In the separate election room, the chairperson of the meeting, with the consent of the Chair of the Election Commission, shall declare the act of the election of the Dean open and shall invite any persons who are not members of the Electoral Assembly, if present in the separate election room, to leave the separate election room and its vicinity until the election results are announced. The Dean of PraF UK shall be elected by the Electoral Assembly, which is composed as follows: the Academic Senate shall constitute three quarters of the members of the Electoral Assembly, and the remaining quarter shall be appointed by the Rector of Comenius University Bratislava. The candidate elected Dean of PraF UK by the Electoral Assembly in a secret ballot shall be the candidate who has obtained an absolute majority of the votes of all members of the Electoral Assembly, even if there is only one candidate for Dean. If no candidate obtains the required majority of votes, a second round of voting shall be held without delay. The rules for any second and third rounds of voting shall be determined by the Principles for the Election of the Dean of PraF UK.

A nomination that is not submitted in accordance with Article 3(1) to (3) of the Principles for the Election of the Dean shall not be deemed to be a nomination submitted in accordance with the Principles for the Election of the Dean.
If the Election Commission referred to in Article 4(1) of the Principles for the Election of the Dean finds that the nominations meet the requirements set out in Article 3(1) to (3) of the Principles for the Election of the Dean, the Secretary of the Academic Senate shall publish, on the Faculty website and on the notice board of the Academic Senate, no later than three days before the election, the nomination or nominations for candidate for Dean, the curricula vitae of the candidates for Dean, and the project or projects concerning the activities and development of the Faculty for the forthcoming term of office of the Dean, if submitted by the candidate or candidates.
