The Academic Senate of Comenius University Bratislava, Faculty of Medicine, pursuant to Article 22 (2) of Act No. 131/2002 Coll. on Higher Education Institutions and on Amendments and Supplements to Certain Acts, as amended, Article 13 of the Statute of FMED CU, Article 17 of the Statute of Comenius University Bratislava, and Internal Regulation No. 5/2026 Rules for the Election of the Candidate for the Position of Dean of Comenius University Bratislava, hereby announces the election of the candidate for the position of Dean of Comenius University Bratislava (hereinafter referred to as the “DEAN of FMED CU”) for the term of office from 1 February 2027 to 31 January 2031.
The Dean is the head of the Comenius University Bratislava, Faculty of Medicine.
The election of the candidate for the position of Dean will take place at a meeting of the Electoral Assembly on 13 October 2026 at 13:00 in the Large Auditorium of Faculty of Medicine, Comenius University Bratislava, Sasinkova 4, Bratislava.

Eligibility criteria
Candidate for the position of the Dean of Comenius University Bratislava, Faculty of Medicine (FMED CU) for the term of office from 1 February 2027 to 31 January 2031 has to be nominated by a nominator- person from the members of the academic community of FMED CU.
Selection process
Candidates for the position of Dean may be nominated by any member of the Faculty’s academic community. The nominee must consent to being included on the list of candidates, must meet the requirements for holding the office of Dean, and must not be subject to any impediment preventing the performance of the office of Dean of the Faculty. Any member of the Faculty’s academic community may nominate themselves as a candidate for the position of Dean.
Nominations for the position of Dean shall be submitted in hard copy using the recommended form entitled Nomination of a Candidate for the Position of Dean of the FMED CU. Nominations shall be submitted through the Registry Office of the Faculty of Medicine, Comenius University Bratislava, in a sealed envelope marked “ELECTION OF THE DEAN OF THE FACULTY OF MEDICINE, COMENIUS UNIVERSITY BRATISLAVA”. The nomination must be signed both by the nominator and by the person nominated as a candidate for Dean.
Each nomination must include a brief curriculum vitae of the candidate. The nomination may also be accompanied by the main points of the candidate’s election programme (maximum two pages of text).
Election Procedure
The public hearing of candidates for the position of Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Comenius University Bratislava shall take place on 13 October 2026 at 1:00 p.m. in the Large Auditorium of the Faculty of Medicine, Comenius University Bratislava, Sasinkova 4, Bratislava. Following the public hearing and the conclusion of the public discussion with the candidates, the election of the candidate for Dean shall take place.
The public hearing of candidates and the session of the Electoral Assembly shall be chaired by the Chair of the Academic Senate of the FMED CU. The election process shall be organised by the Chair of the Academic Senate and the Election and Credentials Committee of the Academic Senate. The Electoral Assembly may determine the time allocated for each candidate’s presentation.
During the public hearing, candidates who have not yet presented shall remain in a designated room, without any means of communication or access to information, while the other candidates are presenting. No other person shall be permitted access to this room. Compliance with this requirement shall be supervised by a member of the Election and Credentials Committee selected by lot. Upon completion of all candidate presentations, a joint discussion involving all candidates shall take place for a maximum duration of 20 minutes.
The Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Comenius University Bratislava shall be elected by the Electoral Assembly, consisting of three quarters of members elected from among the members of the Faculty Academic Senate, while the remaining one quarter of members shall be appointed by the Rector of Comenius University Bratislava.
The election of the Dean shall be conducted by secret ballot. A candidate becomes the elected Dean if they receive a majority of the votes cast by all members of the Electoral Assembly.

The Chair of the Academic Senate of the Faculty of Medicine, Comenius University Bratislava shall reject any nomination of a candidate for the position of the Dean who does not comply with the prescribed requirements.
