Job Summary
Provides senior leadership and vision for the Health Sciences Division in collaboration with the Provost. Responsible for administrative oversight and management of day-to-day operations, strategic planning, and growth of the Health Sciences Department in collaboration with faculty, directors, staff, academic leadership, and other departments of the College. Oversees programmatic accreditation in the Health Sciences Division. Serves as a key member of the Academic Administration team
Essential Functions
- Exerts visionary leadership and operational management in the development and operation of all aspects of the Health Sciences Education division, including credit, non-credit, and contract training.
- Develops divisional goals and enrollment targets in collaboration with program directors and academic administration.
- Oversees and coordinates new program development, including program feasibility studies, curriculum development, and equipment and facilities needs analysis.
- Recommends faculty appointments, approves course assignments and faculty load, and promotes/supports professional development of faculty, directors, and staff in the Health Sciences Division.
- Supervises all departmental faculty, directors, and staff and participates in faculty evaluation process in compliance with the faculty contract.
- Ensures the highest possible standards in program quality and currency in collaboration with Program Directors and faculty; Assures regular and systematic program review and assessment of student learning activities in collaboration with faculty and directors and provides leadership for meeting student success goals, e.g. retention and completion.
- Develops and provides oversight of divisional budgets, grants, reports, and cooperative agreements. Prepares and delivers reports and presentations for a wide variety of constituencies as assigned.
- Responsible for oversight of grant management, compliance, and reporting; including, but not limited to, annual Carl D. Perkins Health Sciences Education grant projects.
- Assists and supports Program Directors and faculty in securing clinical sites.
- In collaboration with Program Directors, oversees and approves divisional course schedule; monitors enrollment; assures accuracy and currency of divisional programmatic information in print and on the College’s website.
- Oversees curriculum development and revision efforts to assure appropriate and relevant content within divisional disciplines.
- Investigates and resolves student complaints in accordance with departmental and College policies and procedures.
- Drives continuous improvement efforts through the use of data-driven decision-making.
- Interprets College policies in collaboration with the Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs; hears secondary level student grievances; resolves faculty concerns and collaborates with student services and human resources on disciplinary matters.
- Oversees programmatic accreditation and works collaboratively with Program Directors, faculty, and the office of Accreditation, Strategic Projects, and Quality in establishing and maintaining programmatic accreditation and assures compliance with accreditation standards.
- Represents Division on College committees as assigned and represents College administration on all Health Sciences Advisory Committees.
- Represents the Health Sciences Division within the community, including serving as the primary liaison with our secondary partners, other colleges and universities, business and industry partners, and community organizations and agencies.
- Develops articulation agreements in collaboration with divisional faculty and program directors.
- In collaboration with Student Affairs, plans and implements student recruitment and advising activities.
- Provides oversight and assures current, relevant content of informational, promotional, and marketing materials for the Department.
- Promotes and maintains a harmonious working environment and facilities problem resolution.
- Plans for and manages the use of instructional space, equipment and supplies in cooperation with other instructional administrators.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Provost.
Job Specifications
A minimum of a Master’s degree in a relevant and related discipline and two years (or equivalent) of full-time work experience in an aligned health science field is required. A strong commitment to quality programs and student success is required. Teaching experience is required. Community college experience is strongly preferred. Experience with health science education accreditation strongly preferred. Management and/or supervisory experience strongly preferred.
