Dean of the L.S. Skaggs College of Pharmacy & Health Professions
Idaho State University (ISU) invites applications and nominations for the position of Dean of the L.S. Skaggs College of Pharmacy & Health Professions (COPHP). ISU seeks a visionary, collaborative, and innovative leader with a deep commitment to advancing health professions education, research, and practice. Reporting to the Vice President for Health Sciences and Senior Vice Provost, the Dean is the chief executive and academic officer of the College and a member of the Academic Deans Council. The COPHP has been preparing pharmacists to serve Idaho and the nation since its first class began in 1920 and is expanding into a comprehensive portfolio of health professions programs beginning in Fall 2026.
The Dean will provide strategic leadership and oversight for all operations, academic programs, clinical services, research initiatives, and stakeholder engagement across the College’s campuses and program delivery sites, supervising a staff of 42 and overseeing more than 2,200 students taught by nearly 100 faculty. The Dean will oversee a comprehensive portfolio that includes biomedical sciences; clinical psychopharmacology; pharmacy practice and administrative sciences; and the School of Health Professions, encompassing community and public health, dental hygiene, emergency services, medical laboratory science, nutrition and dietetics, radiographic sciences, and physician assistant studies. Candidates must hold a doctoral degree in pharmacy or a related discipline, be eligible for licensure as a pharmacist in Idaho, and be eligible for appointment with tenure at the level of Professor. A minimum of five years of progressive, strategic operational leadership experience in an academic setting is required, along with evidence of responsible budget management, familiarity with specialized health professions accreditation standards, sustained scholarship, and effective teaching. The successful candidate will be eligible to receive a faculty appointment as a tenured Full Professor.
