The UCI School of Medicine is dedicated to advancing medical knowledge and clinical practice through scholarly research, education, and high-quality clinical care. The School oversees the education and training of medical students and graduate students at the UCI School of Medicine. We nurture the development of medical students, resident physicians and scholars in the clinical and basic sciences and support the dissemination of research advances for the benefit of society. The school has various departments, ranging from basic science research to clinical medical and surgical specialties.
The Dean's Office (DO) Sr. Financial Analyst reports directly to the DO Sr. Manager, School of Medicine. The position will support finance & strategic processes for the Dean's Office including multiple basic science departments, administrative units, and research centers varying in size and complexity and will be responsible for supporting Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) and advisory services that will enable leadership to make timely decisions and achieve desired strategic results. Uses advanced professional concepts and organizational objectives to resolve complex issues in creative and effective ways. Works on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors. Exercises judgment in selecting methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. Contacts are both internal and external to the department at all levels.
Required: Advanced knowledge of finance policies, practices, and systems. Ability to identify, collect, and analyze information from multiple sources. Advanced ability to effectively present complex finance related information both verbally and in writing in a clear and concise manner. In depth ability to use multiple spreadsheet and database software tools to gather information for specialized, complex financial analysis, fiscal management, and financial reports. Advanced interpersonal skills at all levels within the organization; advanced service orientation and critical thinking skills; and attention to detail. In depth ability to use organizational skills to multi-task in a high volume environment. Ability to adapt to changing priorities. Ability to function as a member of a team. BA/BS required. 3-5 years of experience with BA/BS or equivalent experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred: Advanced knowledge and understanding of internal control practices and their impact on protecting University resources. MBA preferred.
