Job Description
The University of Missouri Research Reactor (MURR) is seeking a Decontamination Technician I. This position will report to the Health Physics Supervisor and will be responsible for decontamination of the facility’s radioactive material areas. This will also include analyzing and preparing shipments of waste from the facility. This position is part an approved Career Progression Plan within Health Physics.
Key Duties Performed by This Position Will Include
- Decontaminate Radioactive Labs and perform Lab surveys to ensure areas are free from radioactive material.
- Transfer radioactive waste safely so that contamination is not being spread throughout the facility.
- Prepare waste shipment by placing waste in proper shipping containers and evaluating dose rates.
- Assist Health Physics Technicians on active job routines to ensure contamination is being contained.
- Perform survey analysis of information gathered from labs.
- Inspect and evaluate areas where Radioactive material is stored or used. routinely reevaluate to ensure areas have stayed satisfactory.
- Decontamination of clothing and uniforms from lab spaces.
- Work with Health physics to determine supply needs and quantities. Maintain adequate levels of supply.

Shift
Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., variable (to be discussed at interview)
Minimum Qualifications
A high school diploma or equivalent and the ability to lift 50 lbs. is necessary.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working in a nuclear facility.
Anticipated Hiring Range
Hiring Salary: $20.00 per hour
