The successful candidate must have the following qualifications:

  1. A registered dental hygienist who is a graduate of a Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) accredited program OR a dentist who is a graduate of a Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) accredited program and has a clear understanding of dental hygiene education and experience working with dental hygienists.
  2. Meet certification, registration or licensure required to practice in the state of Iowa or have the ability to obtain such.
  3. A masters degree or higher.
  4. A minimum of three full time or five part time years (6,000 hours) of recent experience as a dental hygienist or a dentist.
  5. Highly competent in the dental hygiene discipline.
  6. Able to instruct, assess, and evaluate dental hygiene student learning and performance following CODA standards.
  7. Ability to appropriately and sufficiently relate well to students, colleagues, and external partners.
  8. Meet the instructor credentialing requirements of the Commission on Dental Accreditation and Northeast Iowa Community College's Quality Faculty Plan (QFP).
  9. Previous formal teaching experience is preferred.

Must meet minimum experience and education requirements as outlined by the Iowa Code sections 260C.47 and 260C.48 and the Northeast Iowa Community College Quality Faculty Plan.

CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES:
Must possess a valid driver's license.

ESSENTIAL TASKS:

The College recognizes three broad areas of faculty endeavor: teaching, scholarship, and service, and expects that ALL faculty members will be active in each of these areas.

Teaching

Teaching is a core activity of the College and all faculty members are expected to achieve excellence in this role. Teaching includes not only traditional classroom, laboratory and studio instruction, but may also include service-learning courses, evolving forms of technology-enhanced instruction such as hybrid, online, distance learning courses, competency based learning, and other non-classroom instruction such as the supervision of interns/co-op students and clinical students.

Scholarship

Faculty members are expected to engage in scholarly activity to enhance teaching effectiveness and facilitate life-long learning.

Service

Faculty members are expected to engage in activities at the department level that contribute to meeting the mission of the College. Faculty members are expected to contribute their disciplinary expertise through participation in internal and external community organizations relevant to their discipline of study.
