Are you a GDC registered dentist with experience of working in Yorkshire primary care who has a research interest and are keen to gain further research experience and knowledge? Do you want to work with a group of inter-disciplinary academics and develop your clinical research skills?
We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic dentist who will deliver strategic improvement of access to research opportunities in Yorkshire & the Humber for Oral & Dental Health (O&DH) addressing prevention targeting oral health inequalities bringing it out to the community by supporting research delivery in Primary Care Dental Practices and in Non-NHS settings with at-risk students in schools. The focus is addressing oral & dental health (O&DH) prevention targeting at-risk, underserved communities with high oral health inequalities to ensure robust EDI. Adopting cross-organisational collaboration and partnerships that make Y&H the ‘go to place’ for delivering commercial and NIHR/UKRI researcher-led O&DH research.
The post will support the growth of DENTPRIME NORTHERN (Dental Primary Care Oral Health Research Network) – our regional primary care research network. You will be supported by the NIHR Research Delivery Networks Oral & Dental Speciality leads in the locality Professors Sue Pavitt and Peter Day. You will also link to a person in South Yorkshire in Prof Zoe Marshman’s doing a similar role for knowledge exchange and sharing best practice approaches.
As the primary role permits, you will also have some opportunity to be engaged in RAISED [Research Activity in Schools Evaluating Dental & oral health] in Yorkshire (RiY) research delivery across secondary schools. RiY is a complex intervention to improve oral health knowledge, skills, and behaviour in vulnerable communities. You will support participating Schools and primary care-based Foundation Dentists. This will also create opportunity to explore training practices joining DENTPRIME Northern.
You should be have experience of working in Primary Care Dentistry in Yorkshire & The Humber, have experience of research, dental public health and/ or project management and in working with non-NHS communities. Evidence of successful work with young people is highly desirable.
