Department of Biomedical Informatics, Division of Biostatistics and Population Health, Biostatistics (Open Rank Tenure-Track)
Position Overview
Candidates with expertise and interests in clinical trial, population health science, Bayesian statistics, epidemiology, causal inference, statistical learning, artificial intelligence (AI), high-dimensional data, and/or electronic medical records are encouraged to apply. Successful applicants should have a Ph.D. in Statistics, Biostatistics, Epidemiology or a related discipline, with scientific collaboration and research interests in one or more of the following areas:
- Clinical trials, including Bayesian designs, pragmatic trials, hybrid-type studies, clustered designs, de-centralized trials, and rapid cycle research to support learning health systems.
- High-dimensional data, including complex correlated structures, novel omic data platforms, statistical methods in AI/ML, and methodological innovation for large-scale, real-world datasets.
- Population health and observation studies including cross-sectional studies, case-control studies, cohort studies, structural equation modeling, geospatial modeling, missing data, population-level risk prediction, and measurement errors
- Community-based research, health disparities, and social determinants of health (SDoH)
Duties and Responsibilities
Successful candidates will work as part of a collaborative team with investigators across the health sciences campus to develop grant proposals and design studies for clinical trials, large cohorts, population research, basic science, and high-throughput omics at both The Ohio State University and Nationwide Childrens Hospital. Opportunities to develop methodologies, contributing to the academic mission through teaching in graduate programs, mentoring M.S. and Ph.D. students, and supervising research trainees are available and encouraged.
Requirements
Applicants should have a Ph.D. in Statistics, Biostatistics, Epidemiology or a related discipline.

The Division of Biostatistics and Population Health (BPH) in the Department of Biomedical Informatics (BMI) and Center for Biostatistics (CFB) at The Ohio State University (OSU). The Department of BMI provide an academic home for informatics and biostatistics research, development and training at Ohio State. The Department of BMI have one of the most comprehensive academic programs in the nation, including clinical informatics, AI in digital health, implementation science, bioinformatics, and biostatistics.
