Departmental Lectureship in Hindi-Urdu
Location: 1 Pusey Lane, Oxford, OX1 2LE
The Faculty of Asian and Middle Eastern Studies intends to appoint a Departmental Lecturer (DL) for two years in Hindi-Urdu. This is an excellent opportunity for a highly promising scholar to develop their career in the field of Hindi Studies, playing an active and valued role in teaching the Faculty’s graduate and undergraduate courses, and contributing to the administration of degree courses.
You will have completed, or be close to completing, a doctorate in a relevant subject. You will be able to demonstrate an aptitude for academic teaching and research, and the depth of knowledge of Hindi/Urdu literature or linguistics to develop course materials. You will have native or near-native command and linguistic knowledge of both spoken and literary Hindi and advanced reading command of Urdu.
You will bring an excellent record of team working, a publication record and familiarity with the existing research in the field, supported by a good standard of English.
This position is based at the Faculty’s building in Pusey Lane in central Oxford. This is a full-time, fixed-term position to start on or before 1st September 2026 until 30th September 2028.
