About the Role

Queen Mary is looking to recruit to this newly created positiong within the Appeals, Complaints & Conduct Office (ACCO). The Deputy Head of Appeals, Complaints & Conduct Office will lead on day-to-day operational delivery within ACCO, motivating a team of caseworkers to deliver best practice in matters related to all areas of student appeals, complaints and conduct, including both academic and non-academic matters.

About You

The Deputy Head of the Appeals, Complaints and Conduct Office plays a key leadership role in supporting the Head of ACCO in the strategic and operational delivery of student casework relating to appeals, complaints, academic misconduct, fitness to practise and student discipline. You will act as a senior source of expertise within the team, supporting the team to ensure best-practice is achieved across both high-volume casework and complex, high-risk and sensitive cases. You will be committed to a student focused approach that is empathetic and professional, while balancing institutional risk and procedural integrity.

About the Directorate

The Governance and Legal Services Directorate comprises expert teams in governance, compliance, policy, casework and legal, working with a common purpose to protect the University’s interests whilst enabling innovation and the achievement of the University’s objectives. The Directorate works collaboratively across the university community to develop awareness of university policy and regulations, legal issues and external compliance.
