We are seeking an outstanding and strategically minded leader to serve as Deputy Vice-Chancellor Research and Enterprise. Reporting to the Vice-Chancellor and serving as a member of the Executive Leadership Team, this newly established role will lead Massey's research mission, enterprise activity and external engagement. The portfolio will provide strategic leadership across Massey’s research and innovation enterprise, supported by strong research operations and research impact institutes that connect expertise across disciplines and with external partners to translate knowledge into economic, environmental, social and cultural impact.
The Deputy Vice-Chancellor Research and Enterprise will foster a high-performing, future-focused research and enterprise ecosystem, strengthen research performance and success in securing external investment, and provide stewardship of research governance, integrity and ethics. The ideal candidate will hold a doctoral qualification or equivalent standing, and bring senior leadership experience in a complex organisation, a strong record of advancing research excellence and impact, and demonstrable success in growing research investment from government, industry and philanthropic sources. A genuine commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi, an understanding of the New Zealand research and innovation system, and the ability to build trusted partnerships with industry, government, iwi, communities and international collaborators are essential, as are exceptional communication and influencing skills.
