Design, Synthesis and Evaluation of Novel Tuberculosis Inhibitors
Tuberculosis (TB) remains a leading cause of death from infectious disease globally, exacerbated by the emergence of drug-resistant strains. This PhD project aims to design, synthesize, purify and characterize novel small-molecule libraries of TB efflux pump inhibitors and evaluate their efficacy against drug-sensitive and resistant TB strains. Students are required to have a background in synthetic/medicinal chemistry.
Outcomes from this project are expected to advance early-stage TB drug discovery and contribute to the development of new therapeutic candidates to address antimicrobial resistance.
