TITLE OF THE POSITION OFFERED: Development and oversight of an agricultural cooperative project
TYPE OF CONTRACT: Indefinite.
PROFESSIONAL CATEGORY: GROUP I. Bachelor's Degree Holder.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATION: Bachelor's Degree in Biology, Marine Sciences, Environmental Sciences.
In the case of degrees obtained abroad (including EU degrees), applicants must provide proof that they hold the corresponding recognition or credential attesting to the equivalence of their degree, if applicable.
OTHER REQUISITES: Master's Degree in Environmental and Sustainable Process Engineering. Master's Degree in Nutrition and Food Safety. Master's Degree in Analysis and Management of Mediterranean Ecosystems (Specialization in Marine Management) or equivalent degrees.
WEEKLY DEDICATION: This will be a full time position, and the workweek will consist of 35 hours, from Monday to Friday.
GROSS ANNUAL REMUNERATION: The employee will receive an annual gross salary of 30.958,48 euros.
PROJECT TITLE: Phytoplankton Ecology / Microalgae.
DURATION: The term of this contract will be contingent upon the availability of budgetary funds for the aforementioned line of research.
Current R&D&I activity:
Project: "BIOTECHNOLOGIES APPLIED TO THE TREATMENT OF SWINE MANURE ON PIG FARMS TO REDUCE ITS POLLUTION POTENTIAL," reference GMM07, funded by the Biodiversity Foundation, F.S.P., as part of the competitive grant program aimed at restoring the ecological functionality of the Mar Menor through environmental improvements in livestock farming, and the Framework of Priority Actions to Restore the Mar Menor (MAPMM). Budget line 30.05.18.Y007 541A 642.10 (code: 2026/00137/001).
INTENDED DATE OF DEPUTY EMPLOYMENT: 01/10/2026.
TASKS TO BE CARRIED OUT:
Field and laboratory work. Installation and maintenance of tubular and raceway photobioreactors. Isolation of microalgal strains. Acquisition of strains from culture collections. Microalgal cultivation in the laboratory and scaling up of cultivation to large volumes. Biomass harvesting. Biomass evaluation and characterization. Laboratory analysis. Conducting experiments in the laboratory, in greenhouse facilities, and in the field. Data processing, report writing, scientific outreach, and communication of results.
PLACE OF WORK: Higher Technical School of Naval and Ocean Engineering (ETSINO).

MERITS TO BE ASSESSED AND EVALUATION CRITERIA:
Academic Background (5%): Preference will be given to courses and achievements related to the job profile. The grade point average (GPA) will be taken into account. Special consideration will be given to degrees and courses related to the scope of the contract.
Specific Training (10%): Courses, seminars, workshops, certificates, and other training activities related to the cultivation and characterization of microalgae, laboratory analytical techniques, environmental monitoring, design and management of cultivation facilities, as well as other courses related to the job profile, will be evaluated.
Professional experience (50%): Verifiable experience in microalgae cultivation will be given preference. Participation in projects carried out for companies and public institutions in the field of microalgae cultivation and characterization: isolation of strains, cultivation in the laboratory and in large-scale open-air facilities. Ecophysiological characterization and participation in microalgae monitoring programs. Use of analytical techniques for the characterization of microalgae and assessment of water quality.
Languages (5%): Knowledge of English will be viewed favorably.
