Job Description

The Development Events Coordinator plays a key role in planning, coordinating, and executing high-impact, revenue-generating events in support of Manhattanville University's fundraising and engagement goals. This position is instrumental in delivering events that drive philanthropic support, enhance donor engagement, and elevate the University's visibility.

The Development Events Coordinator will actively support the planning and execution of fundraising events, including honoree-directed fundraising, sponsorship outreach, and donor cultivation strategies. The position will work closely with the Manager of Annual Giving to support logistics and operations related to giving days and other fundraising events. Responsibilities include coordinating with internal and external stakeholders on catering, venue setup, vendor communications, on-site execution, and event follow-up, ensuring a seamless experience for all attendees.

This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated, detail-oriented event professional looking to grow in the fields of fundraising, donor engagement, and event management. Evening and weekend work will be required for select events.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Assist in planning and executing a variety of development-focused events, including galas, donor receptions, campaign launches, and other high-profile gatherings.
  • Support honoree engagement and recognition, including communications, event planning input, and assistance with fundraising tied to honoree involvement.
  • Play an active role in securing event sponsorships, coordinating outreach, follow-up, and fulfillment in partnership with the events and fundraising teams.
  • Collaborate with Advancement colleagues to align events with broader donor cultivation and stewardship strategies.
  • Manage event logistics in coordination with Conference Services, including catering orders, room setup, vendor coordination, audiovisual needs, and event timelines.
  • Serve as an on-site point of contact for select events, ensuring smooth execution and exceptional guest experiences.
  • Track event-related revenue and expenses, supporting budget planning and post-event analysis.
  • Provide excellent customer service to internal stakeholders, external vendors, alumni, donors, and event guests.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Strong event planning and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple events and deadlines simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage with donors, sponsors, honorees, vendors, and internal stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to support fundraising efforts, including sponsor outreach, honoree coordination, and donor stewardship.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills, ensuring flawless execution of event logistics and guest experiences.
  • Collaborative and team-oriented, with a proactive, solution-focused mindset and the ability to work cross-functionally.
  • Customer service mindset, with professionalism and responsiveness in all interactions.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint); experience with CRM or donor databases (e.g., Raiser's Edge) is a plus.
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends, as required by event schedules.

Qualifications:

  • Exceptional organizational skills and strong attention to detail.
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor messaging to various audiences.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Professional and effective interpersonal skills to engage with students, faculty, staff, and external partners.

Education:

Bachelor's degree is required.

Experience:

Minimum two years' professional experience in a related field, including development, marketing, customer service or public relations.

Physical Requirements:

Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

Hours Expectation:

Full-time, 35 hours per week
