A depositional model for the Cenozoic sequences of central Cotentin describes a succession of Atlantic-origin transgressions—transporting shelly sands and gravels—occurring within a context of polyphase compressional deformation.
Developing a future management model for available groundwater resources in central Cotentin requires, as a preliminary step, the creation of a supplementary study program to improve hydrogeological knowledge of the area's Cenozoic basins. This project will propose new zones for geophysical exploration and specific drilling sites within the Cenozoic basins of central Cotentin. Subsequently, a 3D geological model of the Cenozoic sequences will be constructed to facilitate future hydrogeological modeling.
