Development Officer II
Job Summary
The Development Officer II will report to the Vice President for Institutional Advancement in the Office of Institutional Advancement (OIA) at Bridgewater College (BC), and is responsible for cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding major and planned gifts from alumni, parent, friend, business, and foundation prospects throughout the US.
Essential Functions (Duties/Responsibilities)
- Work closely with Vice President for Institutional Advancement, Associate Vice President for Institutional Advancement, members of the OIA staff, and BC’s faculty and staff members to develop and strengthen prospect relationships and to ensure coordination with relevant BC programs.
- Develop and implement strategies for solicitation of major/planned gifts, including: developing productive relationships with potential donors; identifying BC leadership to involve in cultivation and solicitation; soliciting and attaining commitments for priority College initiatives, and effectively stewarding donor commitments.
- Support the President and Vice President for Institutional Advancement in all aspects of development travel and visits to maximize effectiveness.
- Participate in OIA fundraising efforts, including strategy development for key prospects and internal planning initiatives.
- Serves as a writer for the Office of Institutional Advancement. Requires working closely with President and Vice President for Institutional Advancement to effectively communicate the President's vision. Writing projects include annual impact report letter, acknowledgement letters, and stewardship report content. Also responsible for other writing projects as assigned.
- Integrate major gifts/planned giving work with larger institutional goals, including: understanding overall institutional priorities; networking with faculty and staff, and keeping current on programs and faculty/research/student initiatives.
- Participates in major campus and alumni events, such as Homecoming, Giving Days, College Awards Ceremony, Commencement, and other advancement-related events.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree
Years of Related Experience: 3 or more years

- Ability to develop relationship in keeping with Bridgewater College values.
