Director, Community Engagement - College of Arts & Science

high-impact engagement ecosystem that connects students, alumni, parents, faculty, and external partners to the intellectual and social life of the College. Working at the intersection of student success, alumni engagement, and institutional strategy, the Director develops and implements scalable engagement pathways that foster belonging, deepen connection, and strengthen long-term affiliation with CAS. This includes designing experiences and programs that support key transition moments (entry, first year, study abroad, re-entry, graduation), enhance student development, and contribute to retention, wellbeing, and lifelong engagement. Oversees a portfolio that includes major academic ceremonies, signature events, co-curricular engagement initiatives, and stakeholder programming, ensuring that all activities align with CAS strategic priorities and advance a unified vision of community and connection. In close partnership with Development, Communications, Admissions, Alumni Relations, and Student Success, the Director ensures that engagement efforts are integrated, data-informed, and designed for impact. Manages a team responsible for execution while setting the strategic direction, standards, and evaluation framework for engagement across the College. Responsibilities Required Education: Bachelor's Degree in liberal arts discipline or Higher Education Administration or equivalent. Preferred Education: Master's Degree Required Experience: 7+ years progressively responsible experience in program development and fundraising or equivalent combination of education and experience. Preferred Experience: Experience designing programs for diverse student populations and transition moments. Experience integrating co-curricular programming with academic and institutional strategy. Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Demonstrated ability to design and lead complex engagement strategies and systems at scale. Strong strategic thinking and experience design capabilities. Ability to translate institutional priorities into integrated programs and experiences. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and stakeholder management skills across diverse constituencies. Proven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and collaborate across academic and administrative units. Data-informed decision-making and experience with assessment of engagement, belonging, and program impact High level of discretion, judgment, and professionalism in working with senior leadership, donors, and external stakeholders. Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Knowledge of student engagement, retention, and success best practices in higher education. Familiarity with advancement, alumni relations, and donor engagement models. Be well versed in event planning, engagement and relationship building through development and alumni affairs. Qualifications In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is USD $85,000.00 to USD $95,000.00.
