Job Description:
The Director, Continuing Education is responsible for the planning and implementation of community-based learning opportunities and nonprofit sector training throughout the service area of Escambia and Santa Rosa counties. The Director identifies emerging community needs and works with administrative staff to plan, implement, and evaluate a diverse portfolio of Continuing Education programs, including recreation and leisure, lifelong learning, nonprofit, and youth enrichment. The Director recruits, hires, and evaluates adjunct instructors, trainers, and volunteers, and supervises staff to coordinate program logistics, including scheduling, venues, instructional resources, and evaluation. The Director prepares and monitors program budgets and ensures fiscal responsibility and alignment with departmental goals.
The selected candidate will be able to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends; maintain accurate enrollment, membership, and attendance records; be able to work independently to plan, organize, and coordinate work assignments; monitor budgetary expenditures; have the ability to hire, train, and evaluate support staff; and provide regular reports to the Executive Director. This position reports to the Executive Director, Corporate Training and Continuing Education.
Minimum Qualifications: Graduation from an accredited institution with a bachelor’s degree, one year of full-time work experience in any of the following: developing credit or non-credit courses/programs, and/or managing, administering courses, seminars, workshops, or programs. Must have a valid state driver’s license. Successful results of a criminal background check are required.
Pursuant to College policy, it is an employment eligibility requirement for an applicant to meet the requirements of § 435.04(2), Florida Statutes, related to background investigations. Any person failing to meet the requirements of the statute will be deemed not qualified to hold employment in this position. A Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) approved background check will be conducted on every successful candidate as a condition of employment, and any person who fails to disclose any adverse information contained in the background investigation at the time of submitting the employment application will be disqualified from employment.
ANNUAL SALARY RANGE: $44,100.00 – $49,100.00
