Director, Educational Leadership EDL
Position Summary
The EDL Program Director provides oversight of the EDL program and works collaboratively with the Chair of the Education Department.
Principal Duties and Essential Functions
Teaching Requirement: Up to four three-credit hour courses per year as determined in consultation with the Dean of the Purcell School of Professional Studies.
- Determining short-term and long-term priorities for the program
- Cultivating partnerships and collaborative relationships with local and regional BOCES and school districts, including coordinating collaborative partnership meetings twice a year between partner school districts, adjunct faculty, intern supervisors, and EDL students
- Overseeing program development for EDL graduate certificate programs, including maintaining currency regarding course and program changes required by NYSED for building, district, and business leaders, and ensuring that all curricular changes follow Faculty Senate Curriculum Committee policies and procedures
- Overseeing and executing marketing and publicity for recruitment efforts (with office of graduate admissions)
- Recruiting, developing, and maintaining relationships with school districts, especially with respect to internship sites
- Overseeing course scheduling and registration for all EDL courses
- Hiring, supervising, training, and evaluating EDL adjunct faculty, including facilitating quarterly adjunct faculty meetings and professional development opportunities
- Assigning, supervising, mentoring, and evaluating interns and Intern Supervisors
- Performing school district site visits for each intern, arranging and providing oversight to Canvas workshops for interns, and monitoring Canvas assignment submissions from interns and evaluation rubrics of Intern Supervisors
- Approving internship requirements and recommending students for their NYS internship certificate
- Editing, maintaining and updating catalog and website information for the EDL certificate graduate programs
- Overseeing and cultivating partnerships with departments and offices on campus, such as the Human Resources, Registrar, Bursar, and Information Technology Offices
- Participating in Purcell Leadership Council meetings
- Overseeing student learning assessment process and submission of SLA reports
- Overseeing AAQEP accreditation requirements and compliance, including overseeing data collection and analysis of rubrics for internship courses to meet accreditation requirements
- Fostering a culture of inclusion for EDL program faculty and students
- Building and maintaining contact with alumni
- Hosting regular information sessions for EDL certificate graduate programs
- Meeting regularly with prospective students of EDL certificate graduate programs
- Advising all EDL students
Qualifications
- Doctorate degree required.
- Significant leadership experience as a superintendent, deputy superintendent, or assistant superintendent.
- Knowledge of higher education structure and processes, academic programs, budgeting and strategic planning.
- Strong evidence of administrative ability, including interpersonal, leadership and management skills.
- Knowledge of NYSED program and certification requirements for School Building Leader, School District Leader, and School District Business Leader.
- Knowledge of external accreditation bodies and NYSED teacher certification processes.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
