The Director of the GTCC Foundation serves as the college’s strategic leader for philanthropy, driving efforts to secure the private support necessary to advance GTCC’s mission and priorities. This visionary fundraiser will lead the design and execution of a comprehensive, multimillion-dollar campaign to elevate GTCC’s impact across Guilford County and beyond.
The Director will oversee all aspects of the Foundation’s operations, including major and planned giving, corporate and foundation relations, donor stewardship, alumni engagement, and community partnerships. Working collaboratively with the President, the Foundation Board of Directors, and college leadership, the Director will ensure a unified, mission-driven approach to philanthropy that positions GTCC as a top choice for community investment.
Reporting to the Vice President of College Advancement, the Director will provide strategic counsel and direction to senior executives and Foundation Board members. The ideal candidate will bring a proven record of major gift success, campaign leadership, and board development, along with the creativity and entrepreneurial energy to elevate GTCC’s culture of philanthropy.
Min Salary: $77,811.75
Mid Salary: $87,538.22 - We offer a competitive salary package that will be determined based on the candidate's experience level and qualifications related to the job. Compensation will be commensurate with your level of experience.
Duties/Functions
- Develop and execute an integrated fundraising strategy focused on major gifts, annual fund, corporate partnerships, and campaign initiatives.
- Meet and exceed annual fundraising goals established by the Board of Trustees and senior leadership, in partnership with the college advancement leadership team.
- Build, manage, and steward a robust pipeline of individual, corporate, and institutional donors that sustains long-term growth and impact for the Foundation. Manage a personal portfolio of 75-100 donors/prospective donors.
- Lead, mentor, and inspire a dynamic advancement team committed to results-driven and relationship-centered fundraising.
- Partner with the Director of Grant Sponsored Programs and College leadership to review and execute non-state/federal grant opportunities for the college
- Provides leadership and strategic oversight for all fundraising and cultivation events and activities—including the annual golf tournament, donor recognition and prospect events, and alumni engagement programs.
- Oversees the administration and financial stewardship of GTCC Foundation programs and funds in close partnership with the Vice President for College Advancement and the college’s Business Office. Collaborates with the Foundation Board, financial aid, and other campus partners to ensure effective financial reporting, budget management, and the administration of mini-grants, endowments, scholarships, and other programs that advance the college’s mission.
- Manages and supports the Foundation Board of Directors by planning and implementing all board and committee meetings, fostering and guiding board-led projects and initiatives, and keeping the Executive Committee informed of Foundation strategies, progress, and successes.
- Collaborates with the Coordinator of Recruitment and Community Engagement and the college’s Marketing Department to develop and produce marketing materials that promote the GTCC Foundation and its initiatives, following college brand guidelines.
- Provides strong, positive leadership to ensure excellence in customer service across all internal and external interactions. Fosters a culture of collaboration and respect while cultivating meaningful relationships with volunteers, donors, and members of the Foundation team.

- Manage and lead the board of directors, ensuring engagement and support.
- Prioritizing time to ensure existing GTCC relationships lead to gifts.

Education Required
Bachelor’s degree from an institutionally accredited post-secondary institution.
Education Preferred
Master’s degree from an institutionally accredited post-secondary institution
Experience Required
- Minimum of 7–10 years of progressively responsible fundraising experience, including leadership in higher education or nonprofit organizations.
- Demonstrated success planning, leading, and completing major or capital campaigns at the multimillion-dollar level.
- Experience supervising and mentoring advancement staff and managing cross-functional teams.
- Experience working closely with a governing or foundation board, including supporting board committees and engaging volunteer leaders in fundraising.
- Demonstrated expertise in major gifts, annual giving, corporate and foundation relations, and campaign strategy.
- Proficiency with fundraising CRMs (e.g., Raiser’s Edge, Salesforce, Bloomerang, etc.) and data-informed portfolio management.
Experience Preferred
- Prior experience in a community college or higher education setting, or in a complex, multi-stakeholder nonprofit environment
KSA Required
- Skilled at creating, strengthening, and sustaining long-term relationships with donors, volunteers, and community partners.
- Ability to provide leadership, demonstrate mutual respect, and work effectively with diverse groups across the college and community.
- Ability to work effectively and proactively in a changing organizational and fundraising environment.
- Strong commitment to team-based management, collaboration, and a high standard of service to donors and stakeholders.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to craft compelling cases for support and serve as an effective public speaker.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to inspire confidence and trust among internal and external constituents.
- Demonstrated experience using donor/contact databases such as Talisma/Donor II or similar products to manage portfolios and track fundraising activity.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including advanced Excel skills for tracking, analyzing, and reporting on fundraising results.
- Ability to develop and execute strategic fundraising plans, including major gifts, campaigns, and corporate/foundation partnerships.
- Skill in working with boards and volunteer leaders, including engaging them effectively in fundraising, advocacy, and ambassador roles.

Department/Job Specific Requirements
- Ability and willingness to work outside normal business hours.
- Must sit for extended periods of time and exert manual dexterity sufficient for keyboard and other office equipment operation.
- Will require work outside of office setting to build community relations and meet with business leaders.
