Department Summary
The Director of Leadership Annual Giving provides strategic leadership for the University's leadership annual giving program, with primary responsibility for growing the donor pipeline for Ohio University by acquiring, renewing, and retaining donors at the leadership annual giving level.
This role oversees the associate directors of annual giving, strategically determines which geographic markets and regions to deploy the team in to maximize donor engagement and results, and manages departmental budgets and resources while contributing to operational planning aligned with institutional priorities. The Director cultivates and strengthens relationships with alumni, donors, and friends, and designs intentional stewardship programming, recognition strategies, and donor-facing materials that retain leadership annual giving-level donors year over year and encourage increased giving over time. In addition, the Director is responsible for training, mentoring, and developing new and existing staff to build a high-performing team. Acting with a high degree of independence and in consultation with senior leadership, the Director addresses complex departmental and cross-team challenges, develops long-term solutions, and facilitates collaboration across the University to ensure the resources necessary to advance the institution's mission, growth, and long-term goals.
Position Profile
Plans and executes the University's campaign for annual gift support from all constituents, including alumni. Provides support in stewardship and recognition efforts for annual fund donors. Cultivates relationships with alumni, donors, foundations, and corporations to support the University's mission. Ensures the University has the resources necessary for growth and engages the community to advance its long-term goals.
Level Summary
Manages a work unit or a team and has full authority over personnel actions within the work unit. Contributes to the development of the area's operational plan, ensuring alignment with broader departmental or institutional goals. Accountable for the achievement of the unit's operational objectives, improving performance and addressing resource needs.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Manages a medium-sized team. Directly oversees at least 2.0 FTE employees or one or more supervisors. Has authority to hire, transfer, suspend, promote, manage performance, discharge, assign duties, reward, and discipline employees.
Fiscal Responsibilities
Responsible for managing team or department budgets and resources.
Problem Solving
Addresses departmental or cross-team issues, devises long-term solutions.
Independence of Action
Acts independently, with consultation with senior management.
Communication and Collaboration
Facilitates communication among team and higher-level leadership, builds relationships across University.
Physical Requirements
This role is primarily desk-based and involves extensive use of desktop computers. Occasionally, the job may require travel to attend meetings and programs.
Minimum Qualifications
Requires a Bachelor's degree in a related field, 5 or more years of related professional experience, and 3 or more years of supervisory experience, or equivalent education and experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's Degree, demonstrated success securing leadership-level annual gifts (e.g., $1,000-$25,000+) and experience with NXT, FPM, GiveCampus and Sales Navigator.

Pay Rate: Target hiring range for this role is $58,972 to $78,139 and the final offer will be commensurate with the candidate's education and experience in relation to the minimum qualifications for the position.

Work Schedule
Monday - Friday 8:00-5:00, based in Athens. Hybrid schedule negotiable with manager.
