Director, Maintenance and Engineering

The Community College of Baltimore County (CCBC) is seeking an experienced Director of Maintenance and Engineering to lead campus-wide utilities, and preventive maintenance operations. This facilities management leadership role oversees building maintenance, central plant operations, HVAC systems, utilities, and skilled trades staff across a large, complex institution. The ideal candidate brings strong maintenance management, engineering, and workforce supervision experience, along with a hands-on understanding of HVAC, building automation systems, preventive maintenance programs, and CMMS platforms. This role plays a critical part in ensuring safe, efficient, and reliable campus operations while managing budgets, staff, contractors, and compliance with regulatory standards.

The purpose of this position is to provide advanced level administrative support services to assigned department, school or division.

Qualifications: Bachelor's degree with eight (8) years of progressively responsible facilities management experience with a minimum of three (3) of those years of experience in managing a large workforce. First Grade Stationary Engineers License and/or HVAC Masters License required. An unexpired driver's license valid in the State of Maryland is required.

Compensation within the posted range is determined by a candidate's education level and/or years of experience in the field. Generally, employees are hired in the lower third of the scale.

Duties:

  1. Manage the overall day-to-day operations of assigned college division or function.
  2. Plan, coordinate and implement projects, programs and/or initiatives.
  3. Supervise, advise, and evaluate assigned staff, as required.
  4. Prepare, analyze and provide reports on miscellaneous subjects, as requested.
  5. Serve as liaison between college departments, vendors, government agencies and/or other external organizations.
  6. Manage operating budget for assigned division or function, as required.
