Job Summary
The College of Health Sciences at Troy University invites applications for a 12-month, inaugural Director of Chiropractic Education, as a non-tenure track Assistant Professor of Practice in Chiropractic to begin January 1, 2026 or until filled. Applicants should possess an earned Doctor of Chiropractic degree. Applicants should possess the potential for publication of scholarly research, external funding, and must be eligible to work in the United States.
Troy University’s College of Health Sciences, received approval from the Alabama Commission on Higher Education (ACHE) to offer a Doctor of Chiropractic program. The program must also be approved by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC). Troy University holds the Carnegie classification as a doctoral research university. The College of Health Science encompasses the School of Allied Health, School of Nursing, and the School of Social Work and Human Services. Non-tenure track faculty members are expected to teach a 5/5 teaching load or the equivalent. Applicants for this position should expect to serve as the inaugural director of the chiropractic program, a new designation, which may include a course load reduction.
The School of Allied Health offers bachelor’s degrees in Exercise Physiology, Physical Education, Nutrition, Sport Coaching, and Interprofessional Health Studies, and master’s degrees in Athletic Training, Applied Physiology, Physical Education, Sport Coaching, and Sport Psychology. The Exercise Physiology program is accredited by Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP). Additional accreditations include the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE), and the Council for the Accreditation of Educator preparation (CAEP).
The School of Nursing offers an associate of science, bachelors of science, master of science, and doctor of nursing practice. The graduate programs include the family nurse practitioner, healthcare informatics and nursing leadership, and nursing education concentrations. The programs are accredited the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing.
The School of Social Work and Humans Services offers a bachelor of social work, a bachelor in human services, and a master of social work. The social work programs are accredited by the Council on Social Work education (CSWE).
Duties and Responsibilities: The candidate hired for this position will be responsible for faculty and staff supervision, program operations, curriculum development, self-study preparation, and letter of intent submission for initial accreditation by the Council on Chiropractic Education (CCE). Additional duties will include teaching within the chiropractic program while also ensuring compliance with the principles, processes, and required standards for accreditation by CCE, scholarly activities, along with service on community, department, college, and university committees. Additional duties include, but are not limited to, student and faculty recruitment.
Troy University’s main campus is in Troy, Alabama, with a satellite campus in Dothan and Montgomery, Alabama. The new chiropractic program will be located on the Dothan campus in conjunction with a bachelor of science in nursing and an accelerated master of science in nursing program within the School of Nursing.
Conveniently located on more than 400 acres on U.S. Highway 231, the Dothan campus serves as primarily adult learners seeking to further their education. The campus is one of Dothan’s best exercise and nature venues and is home to the Harrison Walking Trail, which is made up of three paths totaling approximately 4.5 miles. The campus also houses a 6.7-mile biking trail. There is also a 2-acre pond and a 1-acre stream located on the lush site.
Dothan is one of the region’s most progressive cities. The community offers a mild winter climate, affordable housing, low property taxes and a wide variety of products and services that includes healthcare, education, shopping and cultural entertainment. Minimum Qualifications
- Doctor of Chiropractic degree with at least five years of clinical practice experience and five years of teaching experience within a chiropractic education program.
