Responsibilities

This role is fully in-person (not remote or hybrid).

Under the direction of the Senior Vice President for Strategic Enrollment and Retention Management, the Director of Financial Aid performs a variety of administrative and supervisory duties related to managing the daily operations of the University’s Financial Aid Office and related programs. Assures compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Cultivates an environment that promotes a positive image of the University in the eyes of prospective and current students, parents, faculty, staff and administrators.

Provides strategic leadership in the administration of financial aid and scholarship programs.

Fosters and maintains a supportive student-centered atmosphere that is sensitive and responsive to students; ensures that the highest quality of customer service is provided to all clientele; collaborates with the Office of Admissions, Student Accounts and other departments to develop and maintain seamless procedures that link interdepartmental processes.

Develops, administers and evaluates plans and policies to improve financial aid programs and services; assures timely dissemination of information concerning financial aid opportunities, procedures and requirements; provides information and counseling to students and parents.

In collaboration with the Chief Financial Officer, implements internal audit procedures; reconciles records with the Business Office; oversees external audits.

Serves as a resource to the President’s Executive Cabinet, keeping the Cabinet is informed of trends, resources, programs, policies and regulations; provides analysis as it relates to the role of financial aid in recruiting, retaining and serving students; interprets changes in financial aid regulations and informs administrators and faculty of their impact on the University.

Serves as a member of standing and ad hoc committees including the Financial Aid Committee; aids in improving the committee’s effectiveness in developing student financial aid policies.

Qualifications

A master’s degree and five years of financial aid experience, including three years as the assistant or associate director of financial aid are required. Experience gathering, analyzing and reporting for data- driven decision making. Knowledge of and proficiency with integrated student information systems such as Jenzabar EX, Banner or Oracle. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required.
