Position Summary:

Under the supervision of the Vice President for Student Affairs, the Director of Student Wellbeing and Resource Support, provides compassionate and student-centered support for students, promotes well-being and removes barriers to academic success. This position leads the university’s basic-needs initiatives and provides full oversight of the General Store Food Pantry, including operations, inventory, partnerships, and staff coordination. The Director provides resource navigation, case management, and collaborates with campus and community partners to ensure students have access to essential support services. The Director also directs, plans, implements and evaluates prevention programming, outreach activities, and events.

Key Responsibilities:

Food Pantry & Basic Needs Program Management

  • Oversee all aspects of the campus food pantry, including inventory management, food procurement, student employee supervision, safety compliance, and daily operations.
  • Lead and implement software integration and administration for food pantry operations.
  • Develop, manage, and assess basic-needs programs such as emergency financial assistance, housing support, and transportation resources.
  • Build and maintain partnerships with food banks, local grocers, community agencies, and campus departments to sustain the pantry and other resource programs.
  • Organize and facilitate student transportation initiative.

Student Support & Case Management

  • Provide direct support to students experiencing food insecurity, housing instability, financial hardship, or other essential needs.
  • Conduct intake assessments, develop action plans, and connect students with on- and off-campus resources.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential case documentation in accordance with university and legal standards.

Outreach & Education

  • Lead, plan, and implement comprehensive wellness and prevention programming and events in accordance with evidence-based strategies that address collegiate wellness concerns, promote awareness of basic-needs services and reduce stigma associated with seeking support.
  • Maintain website and communication materials to ensure easily accessible information.
  • Train faculty, staff, and students on basic-needs awareness and referral processes.
  • Direct, plan, and implement wellness trainings and workshops that have a high likelihood of achieving measurable improvements in health behaviors and/or student success.

Assessment, Reporting, Collaboration & Resource Development

  • Track utilization data for the food pantry and basic-needs programs; prepare reports for institutional planning, grants, and assessment.
  • Assess health education needs, trends and program impacts using appropriate assessment tools and research.
  • Strategically collaborate with all campus departments and external partners and stakeholders to assist students directly and advance the University's efforts around holistic student success.
  • Support grant writing, donor cultivation, and fundraising initiatives that sustain and grow student support programs.
  • Oversee, monitor, maintain, initiate, and approve expenditures on program budgets and ensure adherence to funding requirements.

  • Knowledge of evidence based collegiate wellness programs.
  • Exceptional presentation and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to demonstrate discretion in dealing with student confidentiality.

Qualifications

EDUCATION: Master’s Degree in Health, Sociology, Social Work, Psychology, Student Affairs Administration, Business or a related field Experience in case management, student support services, social services, or food pantry operations.

EXPERIENCE: 3 years of experience working in higher education

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred:

  • 5 years of experience working in higher education.
  • Familiarity with community assistance programs such as SNAP, Medicaid, and housing resources.
  • Experience with trauma-informed approaches.
  • Experience creating and providing educational content.

Preferred Skills

Work Environment & Physical Requirements:

Primarily on-campus work environment with frequent student interaction.

Regular involvement in food pantry operations, including occasional evening/weekend hours.

Ability to lift or move pantry items (up to 25–40 lbs.) as needed.
