Director of Human Resources
Job Summary
The Director of Human Resources will be responsible for overseeing all human resources operations (for over 250 full and part-time employees) within the University to include developing HR strategies, provide guidance to senior management, managing and enforcing policies, and ensure HR needs align with the University objectives. In addition, this person will plan, lead, and enforce recruitment, management, and employee relations policies.

Knowledge, Skills, and Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Human Resource Management (HRM), Business Administration or a related field is required.
- Five-years of HRM experience reflecting increased leadership responsibilities over time.
- Understanding of emerging AI technologies in HR operations

- Strong negotiation skills
- Title IX Coordinator qualified or become qualified within 3 months of hire.
- Highly experienced and knowledgeable in ADA, EEO, FMLA, Workers’ Compensation, DOL, and FSLA laws, and policies for state and federal governance.
- Proven customer service skills
- Knowledgeable in Paycom or similar HRIS systems
- Strong proficiency in benefit programs such as health, retirement, and other insurances.
- Proven success in employee recruitment
- Excellent grammar skills.
Role and Responsibilities
- Plan, direct, and manage all human resource initiatives, such as recruitment, compensation, benefits, training, performance evaluation, succession planning, employee relations, and HRIS and records management
- Interpret, explain and apply institutional and other human resources rules, policies, regulations or procedures; assist in developing, evaluating, revising, and implementing human resource services or programs, policies and procedures
- Respond to inquiries and resolve problems in areas such as employment examinations, benefits eligibility or calculations, leave administration, compensation and employee relations; recommend alternative courses of action
- Responsible for time-off management and its’ processes.
- Responsible for the maintenance of the Jarvis job announcement website and ZipRecruiter job site to include downloading resumes and forwarding to appropriate departments.
- Prepare responses to unemployment, workers’ compensation and/or group insurance claims
- Maintain confidential personnel and office files
- Responsible for organizing candidate interviews with follow-through to hiring.
- Responsible for managing background checks and ensuring I-9 Forms are included with hiring packet
- Manages and oversee employee orientation, onboarding, and exit interviews
- Responsible for management of electronic employee data in Jenzabar and Paycom as well as maintaining hard copy employee files.
- Communicate and coordinate with payroll specialist for Notices of Assignment handoff for payroll processes.
- Responsible for reviewing, updating, creating, and submitting policy updates for approval and implementation.
- Responsible for interpreting policy and procedures.
- Responsible for training and maintaining a Title IX committee of investigators and hearing officers.
- Responsible for preparing Title IX reports, Manpower reports, turnover reports, and IPEDs reports.
- Maintain company directory and other organizational charts
- Collaborate with vice presidents to ensure employee feedback and training requirements are effectively communicated.
- Responsible for Open Enrollment and all activities pre and post enrollment to include benefits communication, enrollment, and general support; coordinate with the payroll specialist for accuracy regarding premium payments.
- Responsible for conducting internal employee investigations.
- Responsible for reviewing all Personal Action Forms and preparing appropriate Notices of Assignment and track from signature approval to handoff to payroll.
- Ensure OSHA compliance forms, FMLA forms, workers’ comp are submitted as required and tracked accordingly.
- Coordinate with Voya representative for employee benefit opportunities.
- Partner with internal and external legal resources on regulatory matters, audits, and risk mitigation.
- Identify and implement improvements to HR operational workflows to support scale and consistency.
- Create and revise job descriptions.
- Other duties as assigned
