Summary of Position
We are seeking a dynamic Director of Marketing and Communications who will shape Red Rocks Community College's strategic marketing direction and elevate our vision of transforming lives and strengthening communities. Reporting to the Senior Vice President and Chief of Staff, the Director leads the development and execution of an integrated strategic and operational plan that strengthens the college's presence and impact. This plan addresses:
- Visibility and Brand Awareness
- Strategic Enrollment Management
- Learner Engagement
- Website Transformation
- Internal Communications and Culture Alignment
- Elevated Storytelling Across All Channels
The Director evaluates the effectiveness of marketing strategies and ensures that decisions are grounded in data and aligned with institutional priorities. Working closely with college leadership, the Director aligns marketing activities with RRCC's enrollment goals; the strategic plan; develops and implements multichannel campaigns; oversees high-quality content for diverse audiences; and provides senior leaders with communication guidance. The Director refines data and reporting systems to inform decision-making, conducts research with key stakeholders to strengthen marketing channels and outreach, and provides high-level stewardship of departmental resources, including budgeting priorities and major purchases, to maximize strategic impact.
As a team leader, the Director applies change management principles to guide the department through evolving institutional needs, including building and refining departmental processes, workflows, and priorities to maximize efficiency and impact. The role leads the redesign and optimization of the RRCC website, manages brand integrity, mentors a team of marketing and communications professionals, and directs external agencies in delivering high-impact campaigns. The Director collaborates across campus to establish effective communication frameworks, identify appropriate channels for information and promotion, and support institution-wide initiatives. The role also serves as the college's public information officer and executes crisis communication plans.
A successful candidate possesses strong strategic marketing experience and is at ease with:

- Using Marketing Technology: Building an efficient marketing technology stack that improves marketing team output and tracks ROI on marketing investments.
- Brand Stewardship & Multi-Channel Engagement: Advancing a cohesive brand identity and leading compelling storytelling and campaigns across platforms.
Qualifications
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Enthusiasm for thoughtful experiments with channels and messages and rigor in evaluating results with data.
- Deep understanding of marketing, communications, and public relations principles.
- Experience with web content strategy and digital engagement.
- Strong supervisory, mentoring, and budgeting skills.
- Attention to detail and creative problem-solving.
- Ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of people with a variety of abilities and backgrounds, to maintain good working relationships across the College.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or related field.
- Five years of progressively responsible experience in marketing and communications.
- Direct supervisory experience managing marketing/communication professionals and service providers.
- Demonstrated experience in overseeing the design and launch of a website and digital marketing strategies.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or related field.
- Ten years of progressively responsible experience in marketing and communications, preferably in higher education.
- Experience working in higher education as an administrator or faculty member.
- Experience with Strategic Enrollment Management initiatives.
- Proficiency with marketing analytics tools.
- Budget management experience and vendor coordination expertise.
- Understanding of accessibility practices and tools.
Physical & Cognitive Demands
The following are some of the physical and cognitive demands commonly associated with this position.
- Occasionally moves, positions, and transports files and office materials weighing up to 10 lbs.
- This is largely a sedentary role. This position operates in an office environment and constantly uses a computer, and routinely uses standard office equipment including phones, copiers, etc.
- The person in this position constantly communicates with internal and external constituents and students. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
- Cognitive demands include comparing, copying, computing, compiling, analyzing, coordinating, synthesizing, negotiating, communicating, instructing, and interpersonal skills.
- May require hours outside of regular office hours. May require work at both campuses. May require travel between campuses, as well as in-state and out-of-state locations.
Starting Salary
Starting salary range for this position is $105,000 - $115,500 annually, commensurate with education and experience. This is a full-time, FLSA-exempt position. This position has been exempted from the State Classified System.
