Position Profile
The Director of Regulatory Affairs is responsible for overseeing Civil Rights, Affirmative Action, and Equal Opportunity compliance. They will assist the VP for Regulatory Affairs/University Counsel in overseeing and implementing a robust compliance program, ensuring timely and responsive action to matters arising under Federal and State discrimination laws and regulations including Affirmative Action and Equal Opportunity. The Director of Regulatory Affairs will lead the organization’s civil rights compliance efforts and oversee a team responsible for investigating complaints and managing regulatory training and reporting. This role requires a highly organized and strategic thinker with deep expertise in federal and state civil rights laws, including Title VI, VII, and IX, and a strong commitment to accountability, and legal integrity.
Applicant Evaluative Criteria
Education:
Master’s degree from an accredited institution. Incumbents with a bachelor’s degree may be considered with significant experience.
Experience and Training:
- Minimum of seven (7) years of managerial and supervisory experience.
- Experience investigating complaints of violations of Federal and State Discrimination, Affirmative Action and Equal Opportunity laws and regulations.
- Strong ability to apply resilience, flexibility, and creativity in approaching complex problems, as well as the ability to respond with equanimity to crisis and highly sensitive situations.
- Ability to establish rapport and work cooperatively with various levels of administrators, faculty, staff, students, and outside stakeholders. Demonstrated ability to work with and build consensus between various groups and

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Proven ability to effectively work with a culturally, linguistically, and ethnically diverse community/population.
- Considerable knowledge and ability to interpret relevant state and federal laws, statutes, and regulations.
- Considerable knowledge of legislative processes at the state and federal level.
- Considerable interpersonal skills, excellent oral and written communication skills, and strong information technology literacy skills, such as Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, etc.).
- Considerable knowledge of management principles and techniques.
- Strong research, writing, and analysis skills.
- An ability to advise on time-sensitive issues, which may include complex dynamics.
- Excellent judgement, attention to detail, and ability to maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive information.
Ideal Candidate
Preference will be given to applicants with the following:
- Law degree from an accredited law school
- Managerial and supervisor experience in higher education
- ATIXA, Title IX Solutions, or D. Stafford & Associate training certifications

Compensation and Employee Benefits
The Director for Regulatory Affairs is compensated at the Executive 1 salary level in accordance with CSCU Human Resources Policies for Management and Confidential Professional Personnel.
